Sturdy but a little small
Great for a kid just learning to play basketball. Fits comfortably in my driveway and you definitely need some sand or weights to keep it down. The material seems well made but it took a while for me and my husband to put it together. Patience is key! Haha.

Excellent portable hoop
This is really good home basketball hoop. The assembly was detailed, but necessary and only took an hour total. It is portable but I suggest using two people to make it easier. It is perfect for my teenager and his friends. Really looks good and works like any other hoop.

Focused more on portability
Took us about an hour to get it assembled, which was expected. We ended up having to put a significant amount of counter weight at the base to keep it steady. If you choose to permanently set it in the ground it would likely be ok, but using the existing base I wouldnt want this as our daily hoop.

Well-designed and well-built - and a lot of fun!
I grew up with a plywood backboard and hoop nailed to the wall above our garage where we spend many summer evenings playing ball by a distant streetlight before my dad added lights to the corners above the driveway to give us good lighting. Eventually, the backboard got waterlogged in rain, dry-rotted and the hoop broke off when someone grabbed it trying to dunk. End of backyard ball. This outdoor hoop could not possibly be more different than those memories of childhood. If you ever played basketball in high school with mobile goals, you already have an idea of what these goals are like. They are solid and sturdy with big, solid metal backboards that are unlikely to ever break. The body is a metal pole with a well-designed crank system that allows you to easily raise or lower the goal with almost no effort at all. That one capability makes it viable for any age kids and any size adults. It has wheels that allow one person to easily roll the goal around by just tipping it forward. The base of the goal is hollow and was easy to fill with 100 lbs or so of water using a garden hose once you get it where you want it. The base is wide, and with the weight of the water (or sand, according to the manual) it doesn't tip accidentally. It is solid and safe. The base also has an angled board that protects players from accidentally running into the pole, and which serves to rebound shots through the hoop that fall straight down. And while this sounds great, it actually was the only issue I ran into with this goal - it had a tendency to "rebound" balls down the driveway and out into the road until we turned the goal to face grass instead of the road. Think in advance and you can avoid learning our lesson yourself. The goal comes with good directions, all the pieces and parts and tools needed to easily assemble it in about 30-45 minutes. I recommend having at least 2 people work on assembly for safety and convenience.I highly recommend it for fun for all ages and a lasting addition to your driveway, backyard or garage, if your roof clearance is high enough.

Difficult to adjust from 5.3 to 10 ft
The reason I got this hoop was because of its large height range. With kids from 6-16, I thought this would be easy to adjust between the lowest height for the younger ones and up to full size for the older kids. However, it requires you to disassemble the pole and insert an additional piece to raise it all the way up to 10 feet. The range is only 8-10 feet when fully assembled, like most other hoops. This defeats the purpose of getting this particular basketball hoop, as it requires too much work to switch back and forth. I found assembly somewhat difficult by myself and had to balance this across a table when attaching the backboard and hoop to the pole. With only one hole, it was difficult to spread the sand out all over in the base. Using water is dangerous, as it evaporates as it sits in the sun. Once filled, the hoop is sturdy to where it won't tip over, but the backboard wobbles a bit when the ball bits it. Perhaps this is due to the adjustment mechanism. If you are looking to keep the hoop low for awhile and then raise it as the kid grows, this would work well. It is not well suited for our needs, though, and I feel the lack of clarification regarding the adjustment range was misleading.

Wish backboard was larger
I ordered this "IGL Basketball Hoop Outdoor, Portable Basketball Hoop with 44in Shatterproof Backboard" to replace a 20 year old one we had in our driveway. I only gave it four stars because of the smaller backboard compared to the one I had. We filled the base with water but it isn't sturdy enough so we will need to put sand or weights on it, especially since we live in a very windy area. It was pretty simple to assemble and all of the parts were included. The height is adjustable for all ages to use. This will get a lot of use with our two teenage boyx.
