Doesn't matter if you are a beginner or a long time player. You need to study to keep up to pace. This book is also helping me relearn thing's after a stroke without realising.

I had watched some of Splitsuit on Social Media and became of James Sweeney that way. I bought the Poker Workbook Math & Prefolp. It's an ideal style of learning some content, using software and a test/quiz style applied learning. Just like when I was at University style. Get a lecture of content, then classes to experiment the new learning. You can try different elements, then a test to check your progress. It's not like other poker books I have either with loads of complicated maths that is impossible to do live or the time online. It helps to build up a set of tools and not rules for the game of poker. Plus once you completed the book, it's not like you finished a novel. You can go over and do the tests again, but without the software. I think that's the aim is to have a feeling for the numbers in the game of poker.I will be getting more of James series of books for sure. Quality book very well put together. Well laid out format. I’ve watched many videos on how to train ranges and pot odds but found it hard to focus. The book is a great starting point to help develop drills on the fundamentals of hand ranges and pot odds.

Brilliant book - exactly what I was looking for.I had read a couple of the top rated poker math books and although I understood the concepts I felt I needed practice to drill them into my head and struggled to do this on my own. This book was the perfect solution for me.I have been learning poker for a year and have found James’ online material some of the most well presented and easy to understand stuff out there so I had high expectations and I was not disappointed.I highly recommend this to anyone who is serious about improving their poker math skills.

Ok so first off, you have to pay for additional software for this book. The book does not help you understand the math and isn’t suitable for beginners.Secondly, the answer key is NOT included in this book. It’s online. It’s free but online. So if you were hoping for a study session using just the book, no you need a computer handy anyway. Which makes the online and cheaper version of this book much more user friendly as it’s all in one place.Absolutely ridiculous. At no point does the Amazon listing state you’ll need to buy some software online to use this book and actually have the math explained to you. The book is literally just where you fill in the answers. But not a reference for the math or the answers.Returning.

This book does not offer a lot by way of explanation. Sometimes you have to backwards-engineer a solution to understand what you are supposed to be doing in an exercise. The author emailed to request a 5-star review and to let him know any negative points separately by email. I just don't think this is ethical – people should have an honest picture of your product, so that they can make an informed decision. 5-star reviews and hidden feedback will not help other prospective buyers like me.

When I learnt A level maths over 30 years ago the teach said the only way you get good at this stuff is to do the exercises over and over again until its second nature then gave use over 100 problems for each of the concepts to get it in to you mind. You learn by applying and doing, not just reading concepts. this books helps get the concepts in you head with repeatable exercises that allow you to work on your game away from the table and then as you progress apply them to the game. This has made my thought process and hand reading so much better as a result
