These are well-constructed palettes that hold 9 full-sized pans. The pans are about a third of the height of regular pans, however so they don't hold as much paint.And the palettes are heavy, for their size, so don't expect there to be a great weight difference between these palettes and a regular travel-size palette that holds12 half-pans.The pros, of these palettes, are their compact size, being able to swap out pans quickly, pans that attach securely but are also easily removable, the large pans, sturdy construction, you can buy larger and smaller pans, as needed, and a lid that has a clip to hold Yupo or palette paper in place for mixing paints.The cons are there is only one mixing space and its weight, for its size. Neither of these bother me but might be a concern for others.I really like the palettes and will probably buy more if I find I'm doing a lot of traveling and painting. I love the strong magnet, even if it is heavier than the little strip magnets often used in metal palettes. The pans are well set, so they don't shift around as much, and I like the versatility of being able to swap out pan sizes as needed, They are probably the best travel palettes I have, that I didn't make myself.
