I've had it in my car window for two days, nothing is happening, tried the switch in both positions (since there's nothing that tells you which position is "On").

I have used several similar (actually Identical, some red, some blue) to this over the past several years that I keep in our cars. I believe they help as a small deterrent to those that wonder by in the night looking in car windows and trying car doors. The light does flash at night and the battery charges during the day if it receives sufficient sunlight. I have only used the charging ports during the very initial charges.
