The Beauty:This axe balances aesthetics and utility. The axe head is very attractive. The shape and the raised designs are real craftsmanship. The viking motif is beautiful and balance. This design is not too busy like some of the other axes I have seen.The Beast:This axe has the true feel of a real cutting/chopping/throwing tool. The unfinished area at the top and bottom give it an authenticity that many of these kinds of axes just don't have. I like the rustic look of the raw steel that contrasts beautifully with the polished and etched parts. The business end of this axe is already pretty sharp and chopping happens with minimal fuss and muss. I have already used it for chopping wood while camping and setting up the fire. Keep in mind that this is a hand axe and not a splitting maul! This is for chopping branches, kindling, and clearing brush a bit. It is not for chopping/splitting large logs. Great use for camping.The Verdict:This axe is well-balanced for work and performs admirably. It is also a great looking piece on my belt, strapped to my backpack, or hanging up at home. Definitely worth the price.
