Great for the price, even with a possible build quality issue.
This review is for the R2 model fyi. So I bought this chair because it was one of the few on Amazon that wasn't the exact same chinese made chair with a different off-brand label slapped on it. I'm coming from buying one of those cheap chairs. My old chair, lasted about a year before the padding went completely flat and backrest broke off because it was mostly cheap plastic that looked great put together but wasn't built well. This one out of the box I could tell was immediately made better than any chair I've bought off Amazon. It's made of steel, ample thick padding , fancy stitching and just looks like it's quality built. It even has a removable cover if it ever needs to be replaced. Now there is one build quality issue, I've seen other people complain about it online and I have it to. And that is the right plastic cover near the armrest that covers up some internals is loose. So loose that I can see the internals inside. That's the only issue I have with the chair, but because the rest of the chair is so well made I'm still going to give this 5 stars because the rest of the chair is so well made.I saw another reviewer online complain that the armrests were too far apart. I don't really have this issue, the armrests seem to be the correct width apart for me at least. Seems to be about the same width apart as my old chair.Putting together the chair was very easy. I was able to put the chair together in 20 minutes. Again, all the connections and bolts seem very solid and well made.Overall, despite the loose plastic cover near the armrest, I give it 5 stars. It's very well built, and very comfortable. Time will tell obviously, and I will update my review if anything happens, but right now I'm pretty happy with the purchase and recommend it.

Best chair I’ve owned
I waited a year to write my review because I know some of the cheaper ones will be great when you first get them but then the cushions wear down, the fabric starts to deteriorate, maybe the gas shock will start to slowly drop.Over a year later and you’d still swear that this chair was brand new. Still very colorful and vibrant, the cushions aren’t worn down and barely there, the pillows still sit where they’ve always been. The chair is still comfortable. If you knew just how much and how long I’ve sat in it, that is both a surprise and a testament to what a good chair this is.15/10. Don’t buy a cheap Chinese chair that’s you’ll hate in 2 months. Spend a couple extra bucks and get this or one of the newer revisions.

Super comfortable. Slightly more premium than most of these chairs, still a few cut corners
Took me about 30 minutes to put together. Instructions were easy and all parts were present. Chair is super comfortable. Has a 2 inch or so thick bottom cushion, great memory foam pillows and adjustable up and down arm rests. Far better than my other chair replacing this. I'd say it's one of the better chairs of this type you can get in this price range. But.... it still has some short cuts. The arm rests wobble about 5 degrees in both directions. The thin, fake leather of the seat cushion couldn't be thinner. 6 months and it's already cracking all over and the material is dry rotted/hard. I use a cushion too, so don't even sit on it directly. Also, not super happy (along with all these type of chairs I've had over the years) with how rocky the chair is. Even locked so it won't recline it will wobble a solid inch in either direction due to a loose, rocking, hinge assembly. It's how my former chair this one replaced, broke. It just snapped at the neck near hydraulic from the rocking. And I can tell this one will do the same eventually. To be fair I do spend about 12 hours a day in this chair. About 4 days a week.

The Caliber R1 is a Competitive Premium Gaming Chair Option for the $200 Price Range
- ShippingThe chair arrived with an abundance of packing materials making sure all components were shipped safely. All the chair parts were not functionally damaged through shipping and continue to work. The only thing that got damaged during shipping was the plastic shroud around the hydraulic cylinder but that’s more of an aesthetic issue and not a functionality issue. Cooler Master will replace the part that got damaged in shipping though. I would recommend adding more packing material around or underneath the shroud to prevent it from moving around/caving in on itself.- AssemblyThe manual that comes with the chair is self explanatory and easy to follow. All the parts are easily identifiable using the reference sheet. You also won’t need any external tools as everything you need to build it is provided. I would recommend putting the chair on its side when screwing in the side brackets that hold up the back of the chair to make assembly easier. It was a little finicky to get the screws in. Keep in mind that the armrests cannot extend outwards so make sure to screw them in closer or farther away to match your preference.- UsageI’m 6’ tall and the chair is very comfortable for me, even during longer sessions at my desk. The back and seat are breathable and I haven't found myself sweating from sitting in the chair for extended periods. Everything from the materials, build quality, and features gives the chair a premium feel. The chair doesn’t feel or look cheaply made and it looks like it's built to last. Some nitpicks I have with the chair include not having a deeper depth for bringing in the arm rests closer. They're slightly farther than I would like and I can’t move it any closer in. Beside that I have enjoyed everything from the build experience to actually using the chair and would recommend this chair anyone who is interested in a gaming chair around the $200+ range.
