adidas mens Terrex AX4 Gore-Tex Hiking

Great fit and solid support in a high-performance hiker
I owned and wore out my original Adidas terrex hikers, and needed an upgrade for a trip to Sedona. The latest Ax4 did NOT disappoint. It is an excellent light hiking shoe. Comfortable with only a day of breaking them in, wearing to the office for work. I put these to the test with five straight day hikes in the rugged trails surrounding Sedona AZ. Averaging 8 miles a day of some pretty rocky and strenuous hiking over rugged terrain and was completely impressed.Pros:- Fit true to size. I'm a nine in every shoe and the nines fit me perfectly. I would recommend ordering your size- Highly supportive fit without hot spots. Not too wide, but ample toe room. Good arch support. Short (one-day) break-in- Goretex - didn't test this in AZ, but suspect this would fend of puddles and wet spots- Grippy as hell. The collaboration with Continental continues and continues to pay off. We did a lot of off-camber hiking and step descents on slick rock, and I never had a problem- In a world of garish sneakers on one side, and horrid looking hikers on the other (keens, merrills) these actually look cool and normal. No cons to report. One thing to note - I did try the non-goretex version before settling on these. I would highly recommend upgrading to this goretex version. The fit was better (the non-goretex version was too wide) and the mesh appeared sturdier.

Awesome hiking shoes!
These were great and comfortable hiking shoes. I did replace the insoles though. I always replace my insoles. But these shoes are rugged and great for hiking. Keeps my feet clean during dirt hikes. I put several miles on these shoes in Arizona

I love the style, but?
I love this style of sneaker, but? The 1 negative is that both sneakers appear to have a small manufacturing defect. It appears that the midsole isn't glued properly to the insole and it doesn't meet up entirely, theres a small gap thats visible. Its a small issue in appearance and I hope that it doesn't cause a delamination issue later on, but water/ moisture could eventually become an issue. The positive: these sneakers are very comfortable, i wear a size 8.5 and they fit like a glove, these sneaks are cost-effective and have a great looking silhouette. If the insole holds up, and doesn't delaminate it will be a great set of sneaks to get me through this winter. I gave this pair 3 stars for now, if they hold up I'll bump it up to 4 stars, I can't attest to longevity so I'm being optimistic because I really want them to hold up. I don't see myself giving them a 5 because QC should have caught the laminating issue. Nonetheless, I will update this review accordingly should anything change or not. I made this purchase with my funds no freebies here. Hope this helps.

I have had 6 pairs of Terrex Goretex shoes over the last 12 years.
This version is still a good shoe, though I wish they would bring back the speed lacing system that they had for years on the Terrex series shoes (I actually swapped the speed lacing system from an old pair of Terrex to the new pair).I also noticed that the toe box is a little wider on the newest version than on previous models. I have found that Addidas Terrex offer more cushioning and breath better than a similar model from Salomon (which has the speed lacing system). I also always liked the traction of the Terrex shoes.

Clear deterioration in design over the years
Compared to the Chinese-made Terrex I bought 8 years ago, the new Vietnamese version is frankly disappointing. Sure, they fit well and will likely hold up, but Adidas has clearly cut corners in design and production. The pictures show how drab the new ones look next to my ancient pair — just lacking in class. Worst change: no more high-tech rapid-close wire laces; not even round laces — yuk. And beware that there is a model now $20 cheaper without the Goretex. Really?

Comfortable and durable
I have already put quite a few miles on them. They are very comfortable and durable. I like the soles as they have a lot of grip.

almost perfect just not for my feet
really wanted to love theses shoes , they are almost perfect but the toe was kind of of hard and slightly different shape them the ax3 and ax2 , so my big toes constantly rubbed on the sides it was a bit maddening , it may be that that will go away after a break in but I didn'twant to chance it so i stick with the ax2 . now this may be because i have grown accustom to barefoot shoes and my toes spread a bit wider then mostthe ax and the r lines from adidas are all really awesome you cant go wrong , its only minor differences to peoples taste and slight differences in foot shape that might preclude one or the other , one one of them you will for sure fall in love with like it have with the ax2 and r2Second time buying thease fit better ? No issues with the toe area however the corners of the top laces bite into the ankle ( hoping that will break in , outside of that they have been great
