This is the real thing.
I installed my American Standard faucets back in the year 2000 and the original American Standard cartridges were smooth and drip free for 17 years. When they started dripping I replaced then with 11 dollar third-party knock-off cartridges and could tell right away that they did not have the same smooth lever action as the originals. The lever movement felt like there was sand between the stem and the housing. The killer is that they started dripping after only 3 years. I grabbed two of these American Standard cartridges and after installing them (a ten minute job for both the hot and cold water feeds) was immediately pleased with the very smooth lever action that feels the same as the originals. These cartridges are very well built, easy to install, and it only takes 30 seconds to remove the stem clip and re-position the little cam to reverse the lever action for either the cold or the hot lever movement.I'm very pleased with quality of these cartridges and expect I won't need to replace them for another 15 years. They are definitely the real thing.

Fits my Williamsburg kitchen faucet and bathroom Williamsburg faucet
When the hot water side started leaking in a fast dribble I knew the cartridge needed changed. Took the cartridge out and saw online that we had the Williamsburg kitchen fancy schmancy faucet we bought 10 years ago thru matching up with photos online at American Standard. The bottom of the cartridge had some white looking washer ring that had gotten ate up and some missing. Tried looking on Home Depot where we bought the faucet and they had a part listed as discontinued. I took the part number and matched it up exactly with the Amazon part even though the photo made the stem look shorter (according to the HD specs the stem length matched the stem in my hand) I bought it online and now after less than one minute change out time my hot water works perfectly. It's harder to change out a light bulb than to change this out. The hard part is finding the right wrench to loosen up the old part and take out. Am now washing my dishes in the dishwasher for the first time in 2 days. Amazon comes through again with flying colors!!!! phooey to big hardware stores and home depot in particular!!!! well worth the $11 to be able to do the dishes again!!!Update: My bathroom gold colored Williamsburg fancy schmancy faucet started leaking on the hot water side about a week ago. Ordered another one of these and installed in less time than it takes to change out a light bulb. I was kinda worried the new one would not fit as the old one had some kind of black material around the shaft. Ha!! It worked great. Now no more wasted hot water or dripping in the middle of the night keeping me awake!! On the AS site they sell these puppies at $21!!! Same thing but they do not say if it fits the Williamsburg models.

Perfect fit replacement
I inherited a faucet in our basement powder room from the previous owners. We liked it and didn’t want the extra expense of replacing it. It took a while to get around to updating the room but ended up with a dripping faucet when I did. Faucet had no brand name on it so I disassembled thinking it only needed washers. No such luck. It needed cartridges. A Google search quickly found what was needed. Easy replacement, reasonable price and no drips.

Easy and quick faucet repair
I don’t like plumbing repairs, but fixing a drippy American Standard faucet was simple and quick. Turn off one of the 2 supply valves if you have them. If the drip stops, that’s the side to replace. My valve came set for hot side (probably the most likely to wear out) but valve is easily changed to open the opposite way for cold. Mfgr website has video showing how—it’s really easy. While you’re at it, remove and clean the aerator (which also serves as a flow restrictor) at the faucet mouth. When you turn the supply valve back on, test for leaks, then turn each side of the faucet on full to flush rust out of the line. You will be shocked at what comes out but don’t worry. Just put the aerator back on and you’re done. Piece of cake and a great website if you want to see how to video.

Did the trick
Easy to put in but lacked instruction on how to switch from hot to cold (hot opens counter clockwise, cold the opposite). Found it online

It works great.
Super nice that by removing the little clip , you can turn the little washer over and can be used on either side of the spigot.

Stopped a slow leak immediately
I was delighted to find that this replacement valve cartridge was the correct one to fit my American Standard bathroom faucet. Too bad it takes a $16.25 cartridge to do the job that a 25 cent washer used to do in old style faucets, but it is easy to install and should last a lot longer than a standard old-fashioned washer would. I immediately ordered 3 more to use on other similar faucets when they start to leak in the future. Well made and very sturdy, but the main thing is that it stopped a slow leak that had been driving us crazy.
