The ultimate portrait lens, hands down
The portrait lens to end all other portrait lenses. This monster lets in all the light (I mean ALL the light), then bundles it up on a razor sharp focus plane, a thin sliver that rapidly drops off into bokeh so creamy, you'll want to stick a spoon into it.You always hear "gear does not matter" but frankly, only an aperture this large will get you this degree of bokeh. And no other 1.2 lens is this sharp fully open. Not even the Canon L equivalent (which costs 3 times as much), according to Christopher Frost and other voices more qualified than my own. Not to mention the all aluminium construction of this lens just screams modern quality, it's a pleasure to look at and handle. I would recommend this lens even if it cost twice as much, but at under $1000 it's really a steal.Cons? It is manual focus, but the rubberized focus ring is utterly butterly and you get full metering and focus assist, so no big deal. Even if you have been shying away from manual focus until now, this lens will make you want to learn and appreciate it.The lack of weather sealing is the only real con, but not enough to give it any less than 5 stars. Just don't take it swimming. It is also large and heavy, but there is physically no way to gather this much light with less glass, so that's not so much a con, as it is a fact of life.Bottom line: You can take great portraits with many other lenses, but all other things being equal, this one will give you the best results. Period.

One of my favorite lenses
Very sharp. Easy to focus precisely due to a long throw. Works great with manual focus assist, like on.a Canon R5. The bokeh is to die for — gorgeous. Just be ready for the extra weight. It’s a heavy lens. If you want to shoot at f/1.2 in bright sunlight, you’ll need an ND filter.

A few flaws: heavy, buggy, and a lack of weather sealing. But for image quality - near perfect.
I've owned this lens for a few months now, and I shoot it adapted on my Panasonic Lumix S1 w/ Sigma MC-21.I've encountered a few issues with it, but it's to be expected when adapting a lens that isn't officially listed on Sigma's supported lens. They include, but are not limited to: f1.2 rounds up to 1.3, aperture closes when shooting video (even though on screen it says it doesn't), etc. There are workarounds to these issues, but despite all the faults, it produces wonder photos. Sharpness and contrast is great even wide open, and the bokeh is unbelievably buttery. This lens is not for everyone since it's a manual focus only, but for those who enjoy shooting manual focus, don't hesitate!

Beautiful images
Everyone else has said pretty much everything you need to know about this lens - it's heavy, totally manual, nicely built, takes great photos, yada yada... I agree with all of this. I got it for video, but took it out to photograph a hummingbird that visits to feed then flies off quickly (ingrate). Got some decent images - the quality is really nice, but these birds are easily the most difficult critters I've attempted to photograph. So maybe not the best early test, but I wanted some photos anyway. The shutter speed on these was at 1/3000 of a second! Aperture was set to F1.2 I think & I bumped ISO up to get that shutter speed w/o blowing things completely out. Hope to shoot some video soon. Recommended!

The best 85mm 1.2
This lens is by far the sharpest I've ever used. The focus throw on it is incredibly long, which is very helpful for how little depth of field you get with this lens.Pros:-Great price-Incredible sharpness-Great bokeh-incredible Low lightCons:- Manual focus (AF confirmation)- Minimum focusing distance is a little farI have been taking pictures for 5 years and I'll be honest, this is a tough lens to use. The Small Depth of field combined with the manual focus and long focus through have seriously slowed down my photography speed. BUT I continue to love this lens because of it's incredible shots, there is simply no substitute if you want a sharp 85mm 1.2 (much better than canon). My "keep rate" with this lens is honestly very low with this lens just because of how I use it. I am willing to sacrifice a few images to missing focus in order to shoot at f1.2 and get the bokeh I am looking for. I am talking about focusing on someone's nose vs the eyes, this thing is that precise. You can always stop down and shoot for easier focus, but then why would you be buying this lens. I am getting better with time and I have already taken some of my favorite images with this lens in my month of owning it. If you want to truly master bokeh and manual focus, this lens will give your the best results of anything on the market, period.

WOW
This lens really is a amazing. I was saving up originally to buy the 85mm L series, but with some research i found this little gem. There are only a few video reviews online but it was enough for me to give this lens a chance and it really did blow my mind. Sharp, buttery bokeh, smooth manual focusing, it all added up to be an amazing piece of glass.

Super sharp well built lens.
Lens is VERY sharp, even wide open and is built very solid. Nice bokeh. Focus is smooth with a long throw. At first I was disappointed that the lens didn't have manual aperture control but after using it, it hasn't bothered me at all. Would buy it again.

The best lens you never heard about!
Super sharp maybe as sharp at 1.2 as the Canon RF 85 1.2. The only setback is that it is manual focus. This lens is a beast on the Canon EOS R because you can use manual focus assist guide. You can even focus drag on an eye then manual focus to log on the eye. Mind blown lol it's great.
