Excellent traction.
I've always loved Yak Traks. The coil style rust out in a season. This type lasted 2&1/2 seasons. Great stable footing. I highly recommend.

Works Great - Limited Life
I'm on my 5th or 6th pair of Yaktraks. I've purchased both the steel coils and the chains. I much prefer the chains. They really do a great job of gripping in even very icy conditions. They are an absolute must-have for winter conditions in my area.I rated these as a 5-star, but with one caveat: they will only last about two winters with regular/heavy use. The chain links will eventually break or the rivets will pull out of the rubber. They just don't last very long.

The perfect balance of traction and walkability - these things rock!
This is the perfect balance between traction and walkability. Spikes are fine for snowy trails, but you can't wear them to walk the dog on the sidewalks around town. The rubber slicks with the tiny metal pins grip okay on ice, but they turn the rest of the sole of your shoe into a slick surface, so you don't get the advantage of the extra traction your lugs might otherwise give in soft snow. These chains split the difference perfectly. They bite well into ice, but still leave the lugs of your sole exposed so they can add traction in soft snow. Our neighbors have sump pumps that create sheets of water over the sidewalk that later freeze. Sometimes these sheets of smooth ice are visible and sometimes they're hidden under a layer of snow. I was able to walk the dog around town without a single slip - even through areas that I'd nearly busted my rump on the day before. And when I got to a clear patch (where someone has actually shoveled their sidewalk), the chains are low-profile enough to let me walk normally - feels kind of like walking in pea gravel, which is fine. I even wore these while carving a channel by the mailboxes to let melting snow drain away from the area it normally pools - standing on 2-3 inches of solid ice while swinging a mattock, and never slipped a single time.Very easy to put on and take off too. If you need a versatile traction-enhancing device that works on a variety of surfaces, you won't be disappointed in these.

Will purchase again
I went with this model instead of the Walk or Diamond because I figured it would provide more traction than the Walk and last longer than the Diamond. I can't say for sure if either is true as I haven't owned the others, yet, but the reviews I read ahead of purchase lead me to believe that. I have been pleased with the performance and can't believe I've spent 5 years walking dogs in WI winters without something like these. They work great on the slippery-as-ice hard packed snow on roads and sidewalks, and on rough ice. They'll slip on the hard, smooth ice but definitely provide more friction than without. My biggest complaint is that I have observed quite a bit of wear on the two chain links making up the back point of the heal triangle. This isn't super surprising considering my walks often take me over a mixture of snow, ice, and dry pavement or blacktop. I'm sure that would happen with any product of this sort. Perhaps there is a design solution that will help make these last longer than a season for people in my situation. To be clear, they haven't broken apart yet, but I feel like I need to have a spare set handy before next winter hits. Due to the price point, and the amount of safety they add to my winter walks, I'm not necessarily upset about that.

Slip free walking!
The stainless steel chains cut into the ice and packed snow. No slipping on the miles long walks on splotchy-iced sidewalks, smooth frozen puddles, packed snow or partially thawed areas. After the 15 miles I put on them so far, the stainless steel chains show no signs of crushing, abrasion or wear.

Don't go through winter without these
I love these. We've had weeks of ice and I wouldn't have made it through without these. They work best on a heavy duty boot rather than a sneaker/running shoe.I put them on a pair of work boots dedicated for winter work and leave them on.Priceless when you shoveling or snow blowing. The only negative is the chains on the bottom are not tight to the tread, they hang a little. But it doesn't impair their use at all.You can't wear them indoors - you'll mark up your floor if you don't slip and fall first.

Awesome!
Theyre good quality and good snug fit!Having these is so much better than slipping on ice and breaking your arm! They are easy to put on take off.Traction on snow and ice is superb! Very safe!just gotta be careful when you walk onto clean dry smooth concrete like into a factory-you must immediately take them off or you will slip THERE--its just part of it ALL sho chains will be like that. These are an awesome buy!
