Q: Has anyone used this on the annoying tv broadcasts at gas pumps that are becoming to common?

On those gas pump screens, the second button down from the top right corner of the screen is usually the mute button.

Q: Out of curiousity, will this power off projectors? Dell projectors, Polyvision, etc?

i actually tried this on a benson projector at my work and it doesn't work. just a heads up
