Q: Does it matter if i buy a sensei that has a different element as my creation crystal or does the battle class only matter?

Sensei's are playable characters on their own. They are not tied to any of the creation crystals.

Sorry, I can not answer this question. I am 78 yr old and I don't play the game. Our grandson playing the game and he is only 11 yr. old.

No, however the reverse is true. All the Skylanders in your collection are playable in Skylanders Imaginators. Even your old portal will work too, provided its from the same system as the game! Traps from Skylanders Trap Team will work in the racing portion of the game as they did in Skylanders Superchargers, with a Trap-compatible portal. Some in-game functionality may vary.
