exact fit, working perfectly
not sure why i picked this particular aftermarket replacement part as opposed to any other of the identical-appearing offerings from other sellers. just had a good feeling about seller (admittedly without any objective data or personal knowledge of seller). for all i know - all of these aftermarket parts sold by many different businesses are actually the same identical part and are all made in the same factory somewhere in china. regardless, the one sent to me fit perfectly without needing any filing of mounting points as others have had to do (maybe manufacturer(s) have corrected this slight irregularity). appears to work perfectly as well. quick start on first try after installation. i had fooled about with the original finicky part for quite some time before giving up and replacing. this part is a replacement for Denso 228000-9480 solenoid/starter combo on my ~ year 2000 Sears mower with the Honda 16.5hp GXV530 type EXA1 engine. OEM Honda replacement ranged from $230 - $350.

Black Max GXV530 is my mower and now works great. I bought it 7/28/16 and works fine
I have a Honda GXV 530 Riding mower. My starter was Denso 228000-9480. this starter carried the solenoid and starter that bolted right up to with no modification what so ever. I looked every where for just the solenoid and only the starter and the solenoid existed. Black Max GXV530 is my mower and now works great. I bought it 7/28/16 and works fine. thank you. my mower wouldn't start unless I hook my battery cable straight to the starter cable and n\knew it was the solenoid. The mower guy in my home town of Fairview told me that HONDA didn't even make a riding mower so obviously it must be a great mower for the repair guy not to ever seen one. been in business 25 years. Starks Mowers. this starter fit like a charm on my Honda GXV530 riding mower replacing Starter Denso 228000-9480. check your numbers.

Easy fit on my 16 1/2 HP Honda..
Mine was clicking badly and I was quoted $350. for starter thru Sears. I found this one for $117 and ordered it even after the other reviews. It fit right in and one side bolt fit in. I did not have to drill anything. A 1/4 in. bolt and nut fit right in the other side and I was finished in just a few min. It has worked great so far and I am very pleased.

Starting to mow again
The bolt holes lined up perfectly. And, unlike the old starter, the new starter does exactly what a starter is supposed to do.Even with a new and fully-charged battery, the OLD starter just made a loud CLANK each time I turned the key. After multiple attempts with nothing but that clank, it would finally crank the engine. I knew it was only a matter of time so I replaced the starter. Problem solved.Although I am certain that some owners will need the advice about changing the solenoid, I think that advice may be a red herring for many if not most buyers. If the starter on your machine looks like that in the photograph of this product, just buy it and forget about changing the solenoid separately. The starter and the solenoid are sold as a single unit (and probably should be replaced as such even if they were not). Finally, kudos to Rareelectrical for shipping the right part on the same day I ordered it. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Rareelectrical shipped the starter using USPS two-day even though I had not requested two-day shipping. The USPS delivered it on time and also provided a tracking system like that of UPS and FEDEX that that I had not seen before. All around, a very pleasant experience.

Starter does not have thrust throw the bendix gear into place
The starter with solenoid was purchased for my Hustler lawn mower. After installation the starter would 'throw' the bendix gear against the flywheel, but would not engage properly. I tapped (beat) the starter repeatedly with a crescent wrench to vibrate the gear into place & the motor started. This is required for every restart. The starter is getting beat up & I am looking for a replacement.

This fit perfectly in my 2005 Lawn-Boy zero turn mower ...
This fit perfectly in my 2005 Lawn-Boy zero turn mower that has the Honda GXV530 engine. It was more affordable than just the Honda OEM Starter Solenoid (solenoid was the problem) so I replaced the starter/solenoid all in one. Installation for me took about 5 minutes.

wrong motor
This motor didn't fit, seemed to my guy that it was not drilled right?!?However, when I returned it the tracking showed they received it on the 21 of March. On April 3rd I realized I hadn't seen a credit into my account. I contacted them and asked about it, they responded and said they'd look into it. I received the refund on April 7th. I did not get the full refund, not sure why? I've looked at their info and I don't see anything about "restocking" fee or the possibility of not getting a full refund.I had to wonder what would have happened if I hadn't checked on the refund!
