I decided to get this carafe after breaking two glass types prior. I love my coffee maker and it was relatively new so purchasing this carafe which was almost half of what my actual coffee maker cost me irked me a bit, but would solve my constant glass breaking issue. It is not that easy to clean, I solved it by using a bottle brush to clean it, but the top is narrow and a typical sponge cannot make it though the top easily. What I do love about this is it's durability. It's built like a tank. In addition, the coffee I make stays warm for HOURS after my coffee maker shuts off, that's pretty awesome. All in all, it is expensive, but also a quality carafe which will not need to be replaced unless something pretty catastrophic happens to it. Happy coffee drinking folks - some of you may be dead inside, but stay caffeinated my friends!

I like that coffee is still warm in the morning after 12 hours. Just pop a cup in microwave for 30 sec. And it's like fresh brewed.

I decided to spend the extra bucks to buy this thermal carafe that matches my Cuisinart Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker DCC-1200 better, with the added bonus of not being as fragile as a glass carafe, and being able to keep the coffee warmer better... hoping this 10-cup carafe will fit the 12-cup machine. It does indeed fit. I've used it several times now.I use the carafe to fill the water tank so there is no issue of overfilling the 10-cup carafe with 12-cups of coffee. The carafe is a little harder to empty completely, you have to really tilt the carafe almost upside down to get the last bit out, but this is do-able, especially if the coffee maker is on a lower table or for the taller folks. On my countertop, the more petite person (under 5'6" tall or so) will have a hard time lifting the carafe high enough to tilt everything out, but they won't be able to see the cup markings in the machine anyway without a step stool. Therefore, using the carafe to fill the tank seems ordinary, and you can just pour the last bit of cold water out into the sink anyway, you don't really need that last bit of liquid (or maybe you do on a really tough day?).The carafe is constructed to have a smaller, tight lid to keep the heat in so we don't need the hotplate to keep the coffee warm. I can put the carafe on the table for everyone's caffeine needs, and turn off the machine. It doesn't look too bad sitting on the table. It almost encourages people to have a cup. People are generally happier when they are caffeinated.Time will tell if the carafe holds up well if I end up letting it sit on the hotplate for extended amounts of time. This coffee maker does not have a setting to turn the hotplate off, we are only able to set the hotplate to a low heat setting until the machine automatically turns off.I recommend buying a bottle brush to clean the inside if you don't already have one handy. The lid is smaller so you can't really get your hand in there to scrub.The family coffee maker is still going strong after maybe 5 years or so with average, but not daily, use. I'm pretty happy that I was able to go so long without breaking the carafe, but I knew it would eventually break. How could it not, sitting on a hot plate for so many hours? I'm just glad it cracked instead of shattered.One more thing about this thermal carafe - it keeps the hot liquid contained inside the carafe... which means it also contains the smell of coffee within as well. You can smell the coffee best when it is brewing and percolating into the carafe, but the smell fades. This may not be ideal for those who need that punch in the nose to wake up in the morning.Although I do miss the strong smell of brewed coffee in the morning when I wake up, so far, this purchase is working out. Thank you to the sellers for making the black lid glass replacement carafe more expensive than the white lid, encouraging me to look at all options and spending extra money to splurge on this item.
