I am currently returning the one I just received, as it advertised it fits up to 45.3 inch waists, and I'm a size 42 waist. It does not come even close to fitting unless I suck everything in as much as possible, and even then the ends of the buckle are a couple inches away from each other.

Q: Is this one piece or two pieces?

Not the best quality, strap ripped with a 45 pound plate, had to return it and bought a better one at dicks.

Q: Can it be used as back support for barbell squats as well?

Yes i would say absolutely its totally wide enough and u should be able to get it tight for squats no issues. I use a seperate belt but this one would do the trick
