quality highest on all RANI products
This is the sixth Rani item purchased, and ALL have been fresh and fabulous. Wish there was a Rani shop near me and that our grocery stores carried more of their products.

Less flavor than pearled kodo, but cooks quickly to a nice texture; wish it was a little cheaper
I use millet in suutei tsai, Mongolian-style milk tea. I toast it and cook it in a mixture of browned butter, milk, tea, salt and just a sprinkle of caramelized sugar to punch up the flavors without making it sweet. Some quick background: The most common millet available in US grocery stores is proso millet, which is highly polished. Historically it was quick-cooking but bland. Indian specialty grocers had some other kinds that were pearled (more husk left on). These were darker and slower-cooking but had more flavor (like the difference between rolled oats and steel-cut oats). I like the flavor of kodo better than proso, little, or barnyard millet; it’s like Grape-Nuts (tm). I got used to using half proso, half pearled kodo.Somehow between 2020 and 2022 the proso I was buying started taking much longer to cook, though it still lacked flavor. Maybe it was stored longer because of what COVID did to supply chains? Then it stopped being reliably available. I was initially leery of ordering directly from India; as an individual I didn’t have the bargaining power of a store, and supply-chain problems were worldwide. The price didn’t thrill me either. But I was pleasantly surprised! It cooks up like a dream, nice and fluffy in only 10-15 minutes. Not as rich and nutty as pearled kodo, but a fine addition to my tea. I will probably buy more, even though it’s expensive.

Good taste and quick service
The Kodri millet is good to eat and has great taste. The item is rich in protien and low in cholesteral. The mailing service is also good by the business dealers. The shipped it on next day of my order and recieved it before the specified time.

Feels old stock
Oily smell when opened pack and during every usage. I think the grains are old stock.
