When I first opened The shrink wrapped sponge filter I was disappointed at how thin it was but I let it sit out for a day and I was shocked at how how much it expanded. I was able to custom cut it to the size of my previous pump filter and it has been doing a great job for a lot less than the prefabricated filters.

Pretty happy got 2 of these for half the price of 1 at PETCO. They arrived vacuum sealed and super thin but soaked them in water for 30 minutes and they are back to original size and ready to use. Same quality as the ones at petco.

I personally thought these were smaller, but I just cut them in half and they fit perfectly in my filters.

I bought this size so I could cut as needed to fit my filtered area for my Turtle Basking Area. It filters / cleans the water and makes light work of not having to change the tank so often. Great item and value.

Replaced my old frog spitter filters by cutting my own. Might be a tad fine but they work.

I use this with other filter media in my Aqueon quiet flow 10 gallon filter. Does the job!

First, this arrives vacuum-packed compressed. I thought they shipped me the wrong size. Rinse in warm water and it expands magically. As a pre filter, I cut a block to size, then insert a knife into the block deep enough to create an opening for the filter lift tube. This block is large enough that it doesn't need cleaning as often as some other smaller purpose-built pre-filters. I use it in a 20g tank to keep fry and small fish out of the filter. It's behind plants so i don't see it. You'll get at least 4 such pre-filters out of this 2 pack.
