While beautiful in appearance, this device is non-functional. Its instructions read: "1. Locate the star Polaris at night. 2. Sight the star through the straw (there is no straw included.) 3. Note what degree the string lines up to on the protractor (degrees are marked with extremely small lettering.)As a decoration, this is wonderful. It is made of brass, and is solid and well designed. However, the description suggests that it is functional and can be used to sight stars and determine angles. It cannot.
