Q: can I use double curtain rods

Our brackets currently do not accommodate double curtain rods at this time.

Q: The ad says shipping is $3.75 yet when I check out the shipping has jumped to $20.15. Why is that?

It might be an add-on item and you have to go over $25 dollars for the cheaper shipping.

Q: Do these leave enough room to fully open (perpendicular to the window) the blind slats behind the curtain without touching the curtain?

Yes but just barely. I have a the bracket extended out as far as it goes.

Q: There is a vid showing the bracket sliding on from the front XL ver. the product pics show it sliding down over the top.Is that a different product?

Yes. There's a difference in the style of brackets. The way your blinds are installed and the size determines which brackets you require.
