It came with a socket . I used an impact driver and the socket did not break. My old anode was nothing there, shot. Easy to install.

Good fit
You definitely need an impact wrench to remove the old one. Keep the tank’s lower drain open. The new one fits, the threads are taller than the old one for me, so don’t try to crank it all in. Use a torque wrench when installing. Impact wrench will over tighten it too far could damage your tank!

Quality and a life saver!
It was time to replace our hot water heater anode so we ordered this one. We normally go with the OEM long one but they are terrible to get in and out so we tried the sectional one. Game changer! This one went in no problem! Also, this is a kit which includes the 21mm socket needed to install and teflon tape. Get a cheap cordless 1/2” impact driver and penetrating oil and the job is a cinch. Don’t forget to torque to specs!
