Safe & Sturdy! The Best Stool!
"Library stools" like this are really built to last and are pretty safe to use. I have seen big and tall men climb on these to change a light bulb and it handled their weight without issue. This brand is the best IMO. I bought this to use in master bedroom closet in order to reach the shelf above the clothing bar. I can roll it with my foot to where I need to be and then step on the lower level so the stool stays in place before stepping to the top to reach up to the shelf. I have often used this type of stool on hardwood floors and low pile carpet in libraries. My bedroom is carpeted with a low shag and the stool rolls just fine on it as well. Now that I am over 65, it is important to avoid any falls -- This stool is stable and solid and makes me feel safer when I need to step higher. It is much safer than any folding stepstool and though the folding one could be perhaps placed more out of the way. I do not feel this stool is "in the way." I like the red color because it is easy to see in the closet. The price I paid on Amazon was very reasonable especially considering I think this stool will last for at least a couple generations of family usage. (I don't expect it to be left in a wet area and it shouldn't rust unless it is in wetness.) Highly recommend. A+ for ease of use, safety & sturdiness.

Tough stepstool rolls smoothly, stops when it should
Just a quick note -- I just ordered and received two of these (one the red one shown, one black). Both look fine and work well (roll easily when kicked horizontally near their bottom edges but stay put when weight is put on them from above).A key point on assembly that is not obvious -- there are three groups of two snap-in points. *These are NOT equidistant! * You *must* 'align' it (arrange the top above the bottom) so that all three pairs of pins and their corresponding holes are pretty close. That may only be true for one of the three possible orientations. If you do not identify the right orientation, assembly will be a true mess. But done right, everything snaps together nicely, it is solid, and it does what it is supposed to do.

Great step stool
I love this stool for my kitchen. I can sit on it to get stuff from low cupboards and stand on it to reach high items. Even my husband has been "stealing" it to work on various things. It is very firm and secure when you stand on it and yet it rolls around easily so you can place it where you want it.I almost took off a star for my difficulty in assembling it. I had problems getting the top piece to click into place. I finally used a hammer, gently of course, to get it to seat itself and when I stood on it, it clicked securely in place. Since assembly is a one time deal, I decided that small difficulty wasn't worth taking off a whole star. I really like it, and I love the bright red color as it is easy to spot in the kitchen.

This is not the first one of these I’ve bought
I worked in the library for almost 40 years and this is the exact same thing that they have in the library. They are extremely sturdy, trust me the public gives them a good beating, and I am of the opinion that they are basically indestructible. They are great for use in the kitchen (or garage) when you want to reach the top shelf but don’t want to drag out a ladder. They roll very easily until you put your foot on them, and then they sink down and become immovable. Trust me, a library would not put these out for the public to use unless they were extremely safe and durable (although I must admit, most of the time the staff are using them - those books gotta get up on the top shelf somehow.) The only damage I have ever seen to them is when the rubber ribbing starts sliding off (due to age and wear), we would just tear it off completely and squirt some gorilla glue down and slap that rubber back on top - good as new. If you keep it dry, it’ll last decades. Definitely worth the price.

Just a handy thing to have around
When I used to work in a library, I used this step stool all the time. It's great because you don't have to pick it up and carry it with you (which can be a problem if your hands are full). You can just push it along with your foot. It rolls easily over carpet, but when you step on it, the wheels retract and you have a very stable base to stand on.I bought this because my existing step stool was just a bit too short for me to reach the smoke detectors and light fixtures on the ceiling of my apartment. This step stool is higher and makes little chores like changing a light bulb so much easier. At work, we only had the black step stool. I love that it now comes in colors; I got the red to match my kitchen. It's just a handy, sturdy, easy to move around step stool. Oh, and small children like to sit on it, for some reason.

very sturdy
Love this - I got it as a step up for me to get on my stationary bike. Broke my left foot 2 months ago and just am nervous about relying on it solely as I hop on to the bike saddle. The step stool pops together easily and it feels substantial and sturdy. I looked at many other options out there and decided to go with this one because of it's wide but circular base (due to the footprint of space available for it) and the larger top step surface. I remember these kinds of step stools in the school librairies while I was growing up. This does not disappoint. Good sturdy steel and great rubber surface to stand on. Makes me feel completely safe getting on and off my bicycle. And the red is super cute and shiny.

Fantastic!
I love this stool! A friend recommended it to me for my kitchen and I'm so happy with it. It takes about a minute to assemble. It's very sturdy and I love that it rolls across my kitchen easily, but the second you put weight on it it becomes instantly stationary, preventing slips and falls in the kitchen. Love how easy it is to clean (I took it outside and hosed it off after an accident with a carton of eggs), and love it's size - it fits into any little niche in the kitchen while not in use. Highly recommend it.
