Great utility knife.
I’ve been using a cutter like this for almost 30 years because they are perfect for cutting cardboard without damaging the surrounding cardboard or foam board. This is my third one of these and I was very pleased to find it since my old one was wearing out.

No idea how to use it properly or effectively
This does not come with directions/instructions. I couldn't find any video or directions online either. It has double blades which I also didn't understand and only added to the confusion on how to use. The price was good and I don't need to cut mats too often but this item was not user friendly, especially with zero directions. Very disappointed and I would not recommend.

Comes with no instructions
I’m not sure if it’s good or not because without instructions, I’m not really sure how to use it.

Useful
I am new to mat cutting so I struggled a bit. The blade is super sharp and you need a good surface because mats need a lot of pressure and a steady hand.

It does work…
It does work… but plan on destroying a few pieces of mat board before you figure it out. Use one blade. Go slow, in multiple passes. Score the mat first a few times, then go a little deeper, finally a pass that cuts all the way through. Use a straight edge clamped down for a guide and remember to over shoot your lines by at least 1/16th on either end. Final result was a nicely cut mat.

So good
I had owned this product for probably over 20 years (bought from a different company) and I loved it by after 20+ years of use, it was worn out. So excited to have found it again. It makes it so much easier to cut mat board and other types of boards with out hauling out the mat cutter.

Works great
I am a rc plane builder and I build planes out of foam board, works excellent!

You get what you pay for
I brought this Mat Cutter because it was cheap and I only needed it for two picture frames. The other reviews noted that this didn't come with instructions so I knew that going in, but the product itself was incredibly flimsy. It cannot cut a straight line! The plastic on the back that the cutter leans against when you press down isn't secure, so the straight line wobbles all over the place, even with a ruler to hold it still. The blade holder itself isn't secure enough for the length of the blade and I've had the blade shift mid-cut on my practice mat. What a disaster! I tried replacing the blade several times for a cleaner cut, tried applying pressure to cut through and nothing would produce a clean or anywhere near accurate line.Do yourself a favor and spend the extra cash on a better product.
