Lovely bin, won't last forever
I really like this bin and have recommended it to friends. However, this one was to replace one I bought about 4 and a half years ago - that old bin itself still looks good, it's good quality plastic, but the catch had got 'floppy' and would not reliably close - rather than frustrate myself with that, I bought a new one and will use the old one for storing something in the garage. They're not expensive and I reckon getting nearly 5 years use with the catch working well, was very good value. It looks good, takes up little space, it's very easy to use and I much prefer it to any other type of lid that I've had.I almost forgot - when I got the new one, the base was broken. I was surprised how easy it was to report that and have it collected and get a refund, with which I then ordered another one.

DO NOT BUY THIS AWFUL PRODUCT
I bought this to replace a broken Deco bin from Curver which has given me many years of good service, but finally wore out recently. I was so happy with this bin, I decided to buy the same one again.Sadly, the design has been changed, and not for the better. Firstly, the "collar" which holds the bag in place is now permanently attached to the lid (on the same hinge), which seemed a good idea at first, but means it's no longer possible to have the bag secured at the back edge, as the hinge now stops it being tucked under as I used to do with the old one. The collar also clashes with the lid at the front edge when it's being closed, so clearly the manufacturing tolerances are not up to snuff. This means when you open and close the lid, it wears a small hole in the bag, and sometimes fails to even close. Secondly, the top part of the bin (ie the lid and hinge assembly) seems to have a bigger or sharper lip on the inside than the previous one. This makes it really hard to get full bags out as they catch on the side. This resulted in me pulling harder and tearing big holes in the side of my bin bag. Finally, the catch is nowhere near as secure as it was on the previous model, and I can tell it's going to wear out relatively quickly. When closed, it's supposed to open by pushing down on the top, however even a small amount of upward pressure causes it to open, so clearly the catch is not great. It's not all bad - the finish is a bit nicer on the top, and the hinge assembly is now more robust as it's hidden, so no opportunity for the torsion spring to come out of place, but overall, this is a surprisingly big step down from the previous design.Edit:Even if the bin is not full, after a few months it started opening by itself. Every time I use it I can expect it to have it either immediately pop back open, or worse, pop open later, leaving my house smelling of rubbish. This is the worst bin I have ever used, and it makes me upset EVERY SINGLE DAY. I am finally replacing it because it's an awful product. The people that designed and made this bin should be ashamed of themselves, it's truly an embarrassment. For anyone looking for a similar bin, I highly recommend Brabantia's 40l touch bin. It costs more for sure, but it's something I use every day, and after my experience with the Curver, I won't be skimping on bins again. Please, please, please, DO NOT BUY THIS BIN.

Poor copies.
I decided to replace my old scratched Curver bins with what I thought were identical ones but they're not. They're not half as good, just a cheap copy in my view although they look very nice on the outside. The lid on the cream one doesn't click shut properly first time and worst of all is the fact that there's no removable inner insert to hold the bag securely, it has to be secured with the inner ring of the lid which isn't very good at all because then the top of the bag has to be folded back inside the bin or the lid won't click shut. The other red bin has a lid which when depressed flies back hard and hits the wall even when moved away.I've tried to take photos to show this but it's not shown up very well.

Stylish and Functional, but Lid Locking Mechanism Needs Improvement
I recently purchased the Curver Metal Effect 70% Recycled Kitchen One Touch Deco Bin in Black, 40 Litre, and while I'm generally satisfied with its performance, there are a few drawbacks worth mentioning.Let's start with the positives. First and foremost, the design of this bin is fantastic. Its sleek black metal effect adds a touch of sophistication to my kitchen, and the 40-litre capacity is perfect for my household's needs. The one-touch opening mechanism is convenient and hygienic, allowing for easy disposal of waste without having to touch the lid. However, the lid locking mechanism leaves something to be desired. Despite its claim of a "one-touch" operation, I've found that the lid doesn't always stay securely closed. It has a tendency to pop open unexpectedly, which can be frustrating, especially if there's any odor-sensitive waste inside. I've had to resort to pressing down firmly on the lid multiple times to ensure it stays closed, which somewhat defeats the purpose of the supposed ease of use. That being said, despite this issue, the bin still serves its primary purpose effectively. It contains odors well, and the 70% recycled material construction aligns with my commitment to sustainability. Plus, the generous 40-litre capacity means fewer trips to empty the bin, which is always a plus.In conclusion, while the Curver Metal Effect Kitchen Bin has its flaws, particularly with its lid locking mechanism, it still offers a stylish and functional solution for managing household waste. If the manufacturer could address the issue with the lid, it would undoubtedly earn a higher rating from me. But for now, it's a decent option that gets the job done.

Does what it need to do
This bin is great. It's cheap and it's a big bin. We used to empty the bin out alot as our previous bin could only hold so much trash or it would give off a smell so we was forced to keep emptying in. This however keeps the odour in and it's very easy to clean. We did have some issues with the click top but very fixable.
