Keep it soaking longer then suggested
I tried to dye lycra (Swimsuit) and followed instructions, unfortunately the color turned out spotty. Maybe it was the fabric or I should have soaked it longer but didn't work for me.

I followed the directions exactly but it did not change the colors of my dress at all. It didn’t absorb into the fabric and any that did was washed off
