Best type of saw ever
So I'll admit I was rather skeptical about this type of saw until I used it. Most (99%) of Western saws cut on the push part of the stroke, which puts a lot of stress of the blade, as well as making it difficult to start the cut. But not this type of Japanese saw. The first and most important difference is that it cuts on the PULL! Now that might not sound like a game changer but it makes starting every cut 1000% easier. But that's not all. Instead of pushing the blade to cut which tries to fold the blade (imagine pushing a piece of paper against a wall and making an accordion) with Japanese saws you are pulling the blade to you which straightens the blade and almost forces your cut to be straight. Another difference which doesn't sound too major is the width of the blade (about 1/2 - 3/4 thinner than westerns saws) so you make smaller more precise cuts. Also the teeth are just as narrow as the blade unlike Western saws where the teeth are slightly off set. Now for the two most visible differences from Western saws are the handle and the fact that the blade is double sided. One side of the blade has larger teeth for making rip cuts and finer smaller teeth for precision cuts on the other side of the blade. So your typical Western saw has a handle designed to be held in one hand like a pistol which makes sense when you have to push the saw blade through the wood. Japanese saws on the other hand have long handle that looks like it belongs on a sword. And like with a sword you can and probably will use both hands on longer cuts. This makes it easier to use the saw for longer periods of time as well as helping to keep your cut straight. Once you use this type of saw you will never willingly go back to using a Western style hand saw again

There's quality here, well worth the cost.
I've been interested in Japanese carpentry for years, and picked up a Marples pull saw from Menards maybe two years ago. I've been frustrated because it felt like a lot more work than it should be, and my cuts, particularly the rip cuts, were always veering off. Of course much of that was owing to lack of skill, but frustrating all the same.I picked this up a few days ago. The blade is probably twice as thick, which you would think shouldn't matter as much with a pull saw, but it just is much more substantial and I feel less likely to veer off the line. The rip teeth are also much more pronounced and really get the job done.I'll be definitely picking up more Kakuri items, quite the joy to use.

Sierra util
El producto llegó en buenas condiciones, pero no coincidía con las fotos de la descripción, al parecer no cuenta con el refuerzo de caña en la parte superior del mango.

Good gift idea
Got it as a Christmas gift for my son in law that's an early stage wood worker. Good price and seemed of good quality. Double sided blade is a nice feature as well

This is a very versatile hand saw
This saw is a wonderful tool for any home work shop. It is ideal for people with very limited tools they keep about for home repair and creative tasks.

Almost perfect
It’s a handy tool. I would however prefer a slightly more robust handle.

Quality Steel
The size is just right for small jobs... And as always the teeth are sharp and true. A quality saw in the tradition we have come to expect.
