Made my pond clear.

Easiest so far
Cleaned out an algae rich pond quickly. Loved the easy back wash to clean. Didn't have to take apart to clean.

Generic filter, forget “backwash” feature
POSITIVES: 1, Easy to install. 2, Works great when disassembled *weekly* for cleaning (we have a very small 150 gal pond with two 12” Koi). 3, Cheaper than similar units with or without UV and backwash.NEGATIVES: 1, Backwash valve leaks and 2, “backwash” is a misnomer, it’s a simple *bypass* that does nothing to clean the filters or remove sludge, just drains clean water from my pond. After a few weeks I took mine apart to seal off this useless non-functional “feature.” 3, Must disassemble to clean but 4, nonobvious how to disassemble, so 5,, take photos first because the generic instructions are worthless for reassembly. I got the yellow and blue filters reversed; yellow goes atop blue, I now know, because the opposite way doesn’t work at all. 6, Thin plastic trays and posts hold the foam filters in place, and these are fragile and difficult to take apart. 7, built in UV light also worthless, buy an external one.OVERALL: Cheaper than disposable filters, cheaper than similar sealed units, gets water super clear for a week or so before disassembling to clean. Worth $155, and will continue to shop for a better unit.

Works great, unless it doesn't
The manual sucks. No cleaning or service info. Parts? Forget about it. What a hassle! What's the warranty? I asked. Check with the manufacturer Amazon says. Good luck with that! This is one of those companies that don't really exist. They manipulate the system and filter their customer service through Amazon. So when I say that the valve to redirect to the purge hose isn't sealing and I don't see how to access it for repair, she asks me to take a picture. Of what? I ask her. The water coming out of the end of the hose? Did I mention that I took it apart enough to know I couldn't access the valve? When I asked what the warranty was they answered that mine (10 months old) is out of warranty. They declined to tell me what the warranty is. 3 months? The Pond Guy has a model HOPBP-3000H (that I'm now buying less than 1 year after this purchase) that they plainly state has a 2-year warranty. I don't know, which would you buy?

This is a good product worth the money, that said .
The manufacture of the product, has issues. Didn't come with a manual for installing or a parts list for ordering parts in the future. No way to contact the manufacture for parts. If you look in the question list. you will see that they haven't posted a link in the answers after multiple inquires. That says an awful lot, all by it's self.
