HaywardW3SP1593 PowerFlo Matrix Above-Ground Pool Pump, 1.5 HP

I recently went from the two speed Power flow max to this when our pump died. This is more than $100 less than the two speed. I need 1.5HP to run our heater. Since we barely use 'low' from the old pump I tried this. Just as powerful and extremely quiet. I did have to replace the cord since a 3ft comes attached. Just make sure your power source is close to the pump. If replacing the cord match the gauge or you lose power and decrease the life of the pump.

The pump is quite and efficient. Easy to hook up to my tank. This is my second hayward pump. My first one lasted over 12 years.

The pump was an exact fit for my pool. It has a lot of power and is sending a solid flow of water through the filter. There was a damaged piece ( probably done by the shipping company ) and the Hayward people replaced it quickly without any issues. A pleasure to do business with them.

I purchase a new pump on August 4, 2022 and installed it the same day. Pump worked great......up until yesterday, July 1, 2023! Pump didn't even last me one stinking year! It was running fine yesterday until I shut it down to remove some debris from the plastic mesh filter. I cleaned it out, replaced the see thru lid, turned on the power switch and all it did was hum. Then it tripped my circuit breaker. So I removed the back (after unplugging the unit) and tried to turn the shaft as ut seemed the motor had seized up. It turned freely. I replaced the cover, plugged it back in, and turned on the power switch again. Nothing but a hum again. I'm no electrician or mechanic, so now I have to order a other pump. We've had our pool for over 25 years. The original Hayward Pump lasted over 12 years, then another two that lasted about 6 years each. Anything over 5 years I could live with, but this one lasting only about 11 months (and almost 7 of those months were in the winter when the pool was shut down!), is a major disappointment.

Works very well, quite and has good suction capability. However, it was shipped without the necessary unions for installation.

I replaced my previous 1.5HP after 13 years , And with 13 years of no issues I replaced with the exact same model. Hayward W3SP1593 PowerFlo Matrix. There are very few vertical discharge pumps still on the market . And with the hard plumbing lines this was truly plug and play. Besides it does not make sense for GPM flow rate to plumb the water lines up and down again, each turn slows the flow down.I made the switch because the 13 year old Hayward pump's bearings were starting to sing a heavy metal screech. It may have lasted a couple more seasons. This pump outlasted my previous above ground pool.Considering I was using this not only during summer swim season, I would also run it during the winter to keep the pool lines from freezing on my current above ground pool ( pump and pool are 90% below grade. ) This winter it handled temps that went as low as -4 . Note: Don't try this on an above ground pool that is on / above grade.
