Weird thing to review
My expectations were so low with this product. (Lets be honest...do any of us have high expectations for products from companies that are just random collections of letters that we've never heard of?)First off...know what you're buying. This dongle is to plug an HDMI **INTO** a VGA (monitor plug) on a computer or in my case...a projector. This adapter will not work in reverse to send a signal from a VGA (monitor plug) into an HDMI.I am not sure why so many of these adapters require the extra USB plug. This one worked completely fine without heating up or any picture or sound problems. I use this to watch movies on an older projector and it's compatible with my laptop, Amazon fire stick, and a chromecast device. Even the audio cable was decent quality. Not spectacular quality by any means, but it was better quality than the cable that came with my expensive blue tooth speaker. I tried them both and the one that came with this dongle had less of a buzzing sound. The buzz was noticeable even with the movie playing with my other cable. With the cable that came with this when the movie sound was on the buzz wasn't noticeable unless you really listened for it.As far as the build. It's plastic, and light. Obviously the connections are metal, but they feel firm. There's a little wiggle with it plugged into the projector but that's really common with VGA's of all kinds. But the USB end is really tight. I can see it loosening over time or becoming damaged if bumped often, but...what do you expect from a company you've never heard of that is basically a bunch of letters thrown together.Overall if you need an adapter and want to go with one without that extra usb wire...this one does the job. Can't ask for more than that.

After using it, it works very well.
No special equipment is required. Just connect the VGA port of the laptop, connect the HDMI cable to this adapter and the VGA port of the laptop, and the input is HDMI. Recognize everything at once, and then use the Windows key and the screen of the laptop and the P to copy the image on the TV / projector or a second monitor. Use only one or two screens Use two screens side by side (""two desktops"" page). If you want to transmit additional sound, the included audio cable is in the adapter's socket and the laptop's headphone jack. The cable is long enough for me.The image quality is very good without loss. Depending on the capabilities of the laptop, the resolution of the connected display / projector may not be optimal / narrower / distorted, especially in ""copy"" mode, which is entirely caused by the use of the laptop. In addition to laptops, this part can also be connected to a standard PC or other device with a VGA connection, and I have used it on laptops.

Breakable
Purchased it twice. It broke both times. The casing broke on the first one, the audio output broke on the second one. I'll be trying something else.

Alright
It works for putting a fire stick on an old monitor to make a new TV. I haven't tried the sound yet.

Works & simple to use.
I use this to connect my Nintendo Switch base to a projector. Works great. Sound isn't 100% reliable, but that could be an issue with the projector. We use a Bluetooth speaker for sound, so it isn't an issue for us.

Check Description Carefully
Purchased this item thinking that it was intended for VGA out to HDMI in. Learned well after return window expired that it is for HDMI out to VGA in as such it does not work for my current need. I gave three stars because the plastic cover on the adapter separated after I installed it the first time. Also HDMI Input printed on the adapter is spelled HDMI IUPUT. May work well for HDMI out to VGA in but I cannot tell as I don' have that setup.

Does what I need it to do.
Using this on an almost 20 year old plasma TV, that does not have and HDMI input.Actually kind of surprised that it works perfectly with the FireTV Stick I have it attached to. Have tried other adapters and there have always been issues with either the picture or sound being distorted, or more commonly, loosing sync and dropping out completely. One thing that you may have to do however is manually setup the size and position of the picture, either on the device sending the signal or on the TV displaying it, or possibly on both, something that was actually fairly common on high end video equipment two decades ago, but is pretty much unheard of anymore in the PnP world, so you might want to make sure your devices have manual settings and not just the automatic ones we find today. In my case, I had to adjust the picture size in the FireTV settings, and on screen position on the TV.

Works as advertised
I don't normally write reviews, but this little adapter did exactly what we needed it for, which is converting HDMI into VGA to feed a projector with the audio out for an external speaker. I love how compact it is and doesn't need power. Only slight issue is the screws to tighten it are under the top of the unit and small, so you have to do it by hand (hard with fat fingers) or with maybe needle nose pliers. Other than that, it just works.
