Good product but pricing is important!
I get the proper dose of Mag. Gluconate 550 mg. tablets as recommended by my doctor by purchasing this 3 pack on Amazon and have purchased from Amazon for years for this product. Price, however, has gone up $9 since my last purchase for the 3 pack., maybe even more. Here, on Amazon today, it is less expensive to purchase a single jar rather than a 3 pack. I have found a 100 tablet jar of this identical Mason product, Googled elsewhere on the internet for so much less, that I purchased a year's supply from them, saving $4/jar as compared to the price here on Amazon. I love Amazon and always go here first when I need to purchase one of my standbys but I've found the prices here are slowly, and, in some cases, amazingly escalating and, for some products, like Mason Magnesium Gluconate 550 mg tablets which I use daily & have ordered from AMZ for years, Amazon's prices are out of line with their competitors. Amazon will probably delete my comments re this product review because of my pricing comments, but, yes, I can vouch for its quality. Mason offers Mag. Gluconate, sometimes, hard to find, but its qualities are beneficial. Maybe Amazon just needs to price check their products on competitive online websites before pricing their products @ $4 per jar higher than other websites w/free shipping included?

I suffer from hypomagnesemia (low mag) and MUST take 10 capsules daily of this per doctor's orders
I really rely on this product along with eating magnesium-rich foods such as nuts and beans and green veggies. Earing high magnesium foods will actually give you much more magnesium than the tablets - however, if you have a magnesium deficiency, you will need both. Magnesium GLUCONATE is the only form of magnesium that does not have a laxative effect, which is pretty important to know. You will not find a better price for magnesium gluconate in drug stores, that's for sure! Also, few if any drugstores carry this form of magnesium and if they order it for you, they usually charge $15 per bottle! FYI, the 550 mg per tablet does not actually supply you with 550 mg of magnesium. Most of each tablet is a filler, not magnesium. The amount of magnesium in each tablet that your body actually gets is approximately 25 mg. Low magnesium on your lab blood tests often shows up as a result of chemotherapy in your medical history, as in my case. It makes your muscles feel very weak and your stamina and ability to walk even a few feet extremely tiring. It can vary day to day depending on your intake.

Does not contain Magnesium Stearate which is damaging to your health
Great product!!! I spent about four days in the hospital with heart problems and a wonderful nurse took the time, after her shift, to come sit on my bed and talk to me about the benefits of magnesium for pretty much all health issues. I highly recommend, the book that my nurse told me to read, the Magnesium Miracle by Carolyn Dean M.D., N.D.Because I had a nurse that cared, I’m not on any statins or drugs if any kind. I feel awesome and I’ve not felt that way for a very long time. I sure hope this information can help others like it has me.Important Note: this product does not contain Magnesium Stearate, which is damaging to your body. Most pharmacy drugs and supplements these days contain this nasty stuff so they can cut their costs to manufacture their products. Check out Dr Mercola’s site, Magnesium Stearate: Does Your Supplement Contain This Potentially Hazardous Ingredient?

The rare bioavailable magnesium pill, with drawbacks.
The fact is, almost every magnesium supplement on the market is magnesium oxide, which isn't useful to people who live on antacid or proton pump inhibitor drugs. What that means is, if you take a pill to help your heartburn/GURD/acid reflux, typical magnesium pills are just about useless. I scoured every store in my area looking for a magnesium supplement that wasn't magnesium oxide and found nothing, so I bought this on Amazon. It did what I needed: it gave me more magnesium to aid in healing a few broken bones. Calcium won't even help with bone growth without several other things being in your diet in the right ratio. A recent study suggests not eating any additional calcium supplementation because it statistically does not help, but I believe that is because the people in that study weren't eating the other things the body needs to use calcium, so that's why a bio-available magnesium pill needed to be found. I'm happy I bought three of these. I went through a whole bottle per month and that's the drawback to these.Pros: Bio-available magnesium for what seems like a reaonable price. It's rare to find this compound in the supplement isle in the US at this time.Cons 1: Super low dose per pill: 550mg of Magnesium Gluconate only provides 30mg of magnesium. For those of you that can't do math, that means you need to eat a LOT of these to get anywhere near 50% of your days magnesium. Approximately 25% of your day's magnesium can be gotten from 3 of these pills, so when it's time to take your 25% magnesium supplement with your 25% calcium supplement, get ready to swallow three more pills instead of just one.Con 2: Powder mess: These pills aren't coated and have the texture of chalk. True to how chalk is in the classroom, these pills bleed an endless stream of dust. The cotton ball that comes in the bottle blocks them from coming out so you must remove it each time you take pills out, but that cotton is full of white powdered pill, so it creates a puff of what I guess must be powdered pill which fills the air around the bottle. It's kind of annoying and I would find myself holding my breath or walking away from that area once I got a pill out. After all, who knows what magnesium gluconate powder does for the lungs?Con 3: Taste: While these don't have a horrible aftertaste if you take them quickly enough, their chalky nature makes it almost impossible to get them down your throat without having a little taste each time. They're a little bitter, but not much. It's very tolerable. Have a glass of water ready, even if you are a champion of swallowing horse pills dry.Summary: I'd buy these again if I broke a few more bones. I healed abnormally fast and I attribute some of that to taking these pills everyday, with plenty of calcium and vitamin C, in addition to a diet high in bran, which is another source of magnesium.
