Jazz Concepts with Countless Applications
Presented simple concepts to form interesting and great sounding improv lines. Excellent material to develop useful jazz technique. Music theory knowledge is a big help, but using patters described in this book are useful to all players developing jazz solos!

Easily Digestible
Hello Jens. I received your new book and though I own other materials that discuss the topics that you've gone through (Creative Chordal Harmony for Guitar, 20th Century Harmony, The Jazz Theory Book, etc) I appreciate the practical application and the way that you outline exactly HOW the individual can take an idea that they enjoy and derive their own variations. Though the above books have that to varying degrees, but your book has it in spades! Your book is not daunting to read through and to attempt to apply it immediately. Subjects are described appropriately in depth, but not so much to over-complicate the learning process. The thickness alone, allows the student to breath a sigh of relief (unlike the wonderful, but huge, George Van Eps Guitar Method Trilogy), giving them confidence that it's only a few sections. After all, music is a language and we all use expressions and variations of those expression based on personal experience, appreciation, location and the purpose of the conversation. This book gives a person some extremely useful bits of information to immediately increase their communication (music) ability. The absolute only thing that drives me nuts about this book and other is the inclusion of guitar tab. Yes, I'm a purist that feels that guitar players should be treated like every other stringed instrument and are able to learn how to read sheet music. If you can play at an advanced level, you should be able to read at least on a modest level.

A very practical, useful book.
I really liked the practicality of this book. I have a lot of different exercise and scale books that present a concept and then kind of turn you loose on it (which is a great thing- it's the way it has to be!) For me, the great thing about this book in particular: I found it more like sitting down with somebody one-to-one and having them go, "Try this, man." Playing with others has always been a great thing. Playing with people who know a lot more than me is a really great thing. Since that isn't always possible, it's great to have a resource like this book.

Great Teacher...
It's not easy to teach complex techniques in music, but Jens is really good at it. From his youtube channel (which is how I found him) to this well written book, Jens is proving to be an elite guitar instructor on the internet. This book, Advanced Jazz Guitar Concepts, gives the intermediate player a number of really useful techniques to lift his/her playing out of the standard sounds and voicings. Very excited to implement these ideas into my playing.

Jens Larsen is a very talented player and teacher. Not only that, but if you're in in learning theory, he's got that for you too.I am a paetron of Jens (see his website) because he's that good and I feel it's important as a beneficiary of great instruction to support the musicians and teachers, like Jens. This is an excellent book.
