Great Razor, even better customer service
Ok I don't write reviews unless I'm impressed. This razor and company earned this review.Razor: its solid. Its not a light flimsy little thing. The fact that its a 3 piece means it doesn't untreated like most butterfly style razors. It have a mild side and a more aggressive side. I love this razor. It feel off my stand on the shelf and landed on my granite countertop and hit the sweet spot. It fractured the cap and exposed some of the razor. I was big sad.Company: I contacted them by phone and explained what happened and wanted to see if I could purchase a new cap. They told me no worries and asked for my shipping info and order number. You know, the standard stuff. So I sent them a pic of the razor and my info. I just received a whole new razor from the company via 3 day shipping at no cost to me.So not only is this a great razor, the company stands behind their product. I will continue to shop BBNY&CO in the future and I recommend them to anyone looking for a good safety razor.

ALMOST 5 Stars
I like this razor a lot...it was my first Safety Razor, and I have since bought another, only to be disappointed when comparing it to this BB Black razor. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because I LOVE the black coating, but it has easily chipped away at the corners and edges, even after only a month and half of regular, but daily use. Otherwise, I love the heft, I like the size, and I like the solid feel of razor contact I get from this Safety Razor, when compared with other models.

Game Changer for Sensitive Skin (female)
I have gotten razor burn from every single razor, every single time I've shaved my legs. For almost 20 years. This razor has completely changed the game! I have very bad eyesight, and was nervous to use this new style of razor in the shower without glasses on, but I have not gotten a single nick since my first use learning how to angle it. I've owned this for roughly 4 months and changed the blade only once, when I started feeling the shave wasn't as close.I have not ever had a shave this close, or this SMOOTH, on my legs, ever! And my fiancé is loving me not having stubbly legs under the covers~! I used to avoid razor burn by only shaving once a week, but now I can shave every other day without issue. I use this on legs, armpits, the odd mustache hair, and my lady bits (which I was so scared of, but it's easier than using a trimmer, or waxing!). I am IN LOVE. This is the only razor product I will ever buy again!!

Good starter, not long termer
This was my first soiree into the world of DSE shaving. I've owned and worn out 3 electric shavers, but always found them both irritating to the skin, and not a very close shave. I've done single heads, but hated those (Bic). I got the triple blade options, including the aloe and other nifty strips to prevent folliculitis (never really worked.) I was considering one of the discount subscription options (Harry's, DSC) and encountered the DSE. This was my father's era, but he always used electric, being the modern option. One of the claims of the DSE was less or no irritation. I do everything recommended (hot shower or hot wet towel, pre shave oils, badger hair brush application of a well lathered high end soap from a tub, shave with, then against the grain, a couple or a few steps of post shave skin care, starting with the alum block, etc.) I decided this would be my first razor, since it was ok on the reviews, reasonably priced, and looks good.It didn't take me long to discover that the aggressiveness of the sides was different, as more blade (exposure) is clear on one side than the other. I worked with it, using the more aggressive side for my shave with the direction of hair growth, then back and forth between the sides for the against the grain phase, depending on the delicacy of the area being shaved. I was always able to get a close shave, admitting that the first few months (I only shave on the weekends to allow the skin irritation to heal) I shed a lot of blood. I have never bled so much with any previous shaving system. I think some of it was that the Astra blades are simply sharp. I had next to nothing in the blood loss category using the Derby blades. Perhaps my technique had improved, but I wouldn't say so personally. I like the weight of this razor handle/head, and the knurling of the material made slips/drops/etc. a non issue for me. I had learned to work with the different blade gaps and use it to my advantage. After 1 year and 3 months, I cleaned the unit, which was the routine after 2-3 uses, and when a fresh blade was to be inserted. When I attempted to reassemble the parts with the new blade, the screw portion of the top-most piece, broke off in the handle. I had barely achieved contact of all three pieces, let alone begun to apply any pressure to secure them into the final shaving unit, when this happened. Not user error this time. So, I would simply say this isn't a bad starting point, if you realize that you'll have it around a year with regular use. I saw another review or two that mentioned a similar outcome. Clearly the materials are not top shelf, but we all know the expression "you get what you pay for" for a reason. This is an example. Let that be your guide in your decision making, remembering that most of us DO wind up going through at least a few razor handles before the knowledge of regular use guides us to the final option.EDIT/UPDATE: I contacted BBNY just to see what might come of the interaction. Seller was kind enough to offer me a replacement for my broken pieces. We negotiated that photos would be acceptable, and I provided a few, including proof of date. I wanted to offer some assurance that I wasn't perpetrating a scam of any sort. The time between each e-mail exchange was longer than I would have liked but not at all unreasonable. Seller then offered as an easier accounting issue, that I simply make a novel purchase and seller would refund the amount spent. I revisited seller ratings, then took the chance. Refund came through today. Sadly, the replacement razor arrived with exactly the same break of the screw portion from the top of the razor inside of the handle. I have of course offered the suggestion to the manufacturer that perhaps a different and higher grade of metal be used in the manufacturing process.so, device meh, seller 👍

Paid itself off
This is my second safety razor ever. I had a little $5 razor before I got this BBNY one, so I don't know anything about other nicer safety razors they have here on amazon, but I can speak to this one that I've had for 3 1/2 years now. It has a nice weight to it and the blade replacement is straight forward and easy to keep clean. One side of the blade does come out further than the other but that really doesn't bother me. I unscrew the top slightly to adjust how much of the blade is exposed and it gives me as close of a shave as I would want. Overall I think it's a nice razor. 👌🏽

Ouch!!!
This is a nice double edge razor. But I'll warn you, if you don't have a heavy beard you'll be sorry. My beard is not very heavy, I've been using DE on and off for 40 yrs and I've never had a more harsh shave in my life. It was almost like using a stright razor. This razor will be good for you gorillas out there but normal guys be careful.

This is a heavy razor compared to others I've used.
Razor is offered at a nice price. It's a bit on the heavy side, but that could be a good thing as long as you let the weight of the razor do the work rather than trying to press on the razor.
