The Legend of Diamond Lil: A J.J. Tully Mystery (J.J. Tully Mysteries)

Diamond Lil comes to live next door to J.J. Tully but she comes with a secret. While the two of them strike up a friendship it seems as though J.j. is right not to trust her. When he finds out her secret he realizes the danger they were all in.I love this series. Vincent the Funnel turns informant this time around. Lil is not what she seems. The chicks are as wild as ever and Mama Chicken is, indeed, a broody hen. I loved the story.I hope more stories about J. J. Tully are coming. I just love the 1940's gumshoe style.

My 7 yr old grandson couldn’t wait to read this second book in the series. He is just beginning to read chapter books, and this one really caught his attention.

This is the second book of the series, both of which we (my 8 year old daughter and I) have read. Here is her review of The Legend of Diamond Lil:I know that j.j. is a retired search-and-rescue dog. I love the one (book) that is TROUBLE WITH CHICKENS when the chicks get kidnapped by Vince the funnel. My second favorite is THE LEGEND OF DIAMOND LIL I wanted to read it so badly I read it in 24 hours. I also have a question why did Ida steal Sugar (little boo)? Well I have this question because she stole sugar and not her baby.There are a lot of fun illustrations, and kids who have a good imagination would like this book.

Loved reading it with my 7 year old daughter along with the other books in series. It is very funny and not scary.

This time the hero of the story, JJ the former rescue dog, rescues everyone! Another dog, the chicks in hot water, their mom, Moosh, Vince, possums, and himself. What a guy! Even though the real mystery takes a while to be resolved, he does finally see the light. Suspenseful, funny and very delightful. I love this series. Get them all from Amazon.com Children will love having you read them, will enjoy reading the series themselves and you will enjoy reading them yourself for the humor and the subtleties.

Of the three books in this series this one is the best. I like the mysteries and characters in these books. But for the age group I think they can be difficult to understand, because they read like a class noir detective story.But this one was good, and cute. I think my students will really like the twist this story provides.

I'm 62 and absolutely love these books! I hope to share them with my friends! They are such fun books!
