Great company, great EPROM programmer, a solid staple to any cartirdge repro maker or other types of programmers.
So easy to use, USB cable connection is flawless, jumper included for regular 16 bit add on EPROMS or the big boy M27C322, etc. I bought the set with this and the UV eraser and 16 bit adapter, which I HIGHLY recommend for any serious beginner. It works great with my windows 10, if the EPROMS work...this delivers. The program is also easy enough that as a total neophyte, I was making every kind of Sega Genesis repro and a lot of SNES repros in the first day. Build quality and clamp action lever to hold legs of IC is also of solid quality considering the plastics. For the price, you can't get better. Plus dealing with the GQ company in Seattle was a VERY positive experience for me. They handled a few snags and questions on my part like absolute pros, thank you very much

A really nice package, works precisely as advertised - recommend buying an external pwer supply to augment
Rugged, tough, does an amazing job for very little money. This is the Fourth Generation of a line of Programmers, it still supports EPROMs but also supports many other types of programmable integrated circuits. Fully USB connected to a computer. Software works well but requires at least an older Windows 7 or better Windows XP system to get the best benefit. The USB device driver has to be installed first and then the device connected so that it will have its service device driver added to the operating system. Doesn't need an external power source for programming many devices, but does need an external Wall Wart type power supply to Erase or program some devices.. that is not included. It comes with a mini CDROM of software (don't use it; get the current device driver and software from the vendors website), a USB cable and the programmer. For programming devices other than DIPs adapters can be purchased separately. It does require a certain user background and familarity with what it is for and how to learn to use it.. this is not a beginners tool.. but in the right hands its a very economical alternative for hobbyists and weekend electrical engineers.

really good programmer at a reasonable price
i needed a programmer that could do 2716 PROMS and i wanted to be able to do bigger ones in the same family, like 2732, 2764, etc. this programmer had really good write-ups, so i figured i'd give it a shot. it was a great value and works really well. the only catch is that the documentation is a little shaky, but that was to be expected. the documentation for just about everything now is a less than spectacular.i would recommend this to anyone looking for a reasonably priced PROM programmer. just remember to check if the devices you want to program are on the list for the programmer before you buy it.

Good programmer, support, software, etc. It's just a little pricy for what it is.
Why programmers like these remain so expensive, I'll never know. I am rating this a 4/5 for price alone. Functionality wise, the Willem programmers just work, their software is easy enough to navigate, and the support is there for all types of ICs. You can get cheap programmers from China for a fraction of the cost, but the setup is much more of a headache. As someone who works in the electronics industry AND acts as a hobbyist in my spare time, I bought the Willem for my work lab because I knew it would work and the software is simple to use. Beyond that, there's not much to comment on. If this was a little cheaper, I'd have one at home, but I'll waste the hour or two it takes to get the Chinese setups working at home like any reasonable hacker. My home lab still feels the grass is greener on this side, though.

Works great with old Arcade and Vintage Computer EPROMs
This is the first USB-based programmer that I've owned that will deal properly with older arcade and vintage computer EPROMS. To date I've tested with the following and had success with each. I was previously using the "other" very common USB programmer available (the miniPro) which wouldn't touch most of these. Some of these chips required an additional (not supplied) external power adapter, but I was able to flash them without. I did get two failures which I can't blame on the unit because I didn't have a power adapter handy.Programming with the GQ-4x4Chip Label Burner Setting Size Result NotesTMS2764JL-25 TMS2764 64kbit (8K) GOOD 28 pini D2716 Intel D2716 16kbit (2K) GOOD 24 pin, lots and lots of these aroundi D2764 Intel D2764 64kbit (8K) GOOD 28 pinTMS2516-45JL TMS2516 16kbit (2K) GOOD 24 pinMBM2732A MBM2732A 32kbit (4K) GOOD FujitsuW27E257-12 W27E257 512kbit (64K) GOOD Supports EraseM8522/JM2532E TMS2532JL 32kbit (4K) GOODM2716FI SGS M2716 16kbit GOODWould be an easy five star if they included the "sometimes required" power adapter. I was going to rate it four because of that, but will stick with 5.

I am impressed
I owned a data i/o 29b that the display stopped working so I was looking for a new programmer. I when I saw this one on amazon I said what the heck. I bought it and when it arrived is took a little figuring out how to install it. No manual and the paper included was a little confusing how to install and in what order. After I figured out the install the programmer worked like a champ. I am using it to restore an old S-100 bus computer and I needed to program a 2716 with the updated rom monitor. It was very smooth. It programmed very fast as was able to read preprogramed 2716 parts I had. All in all I am very pleased with it. Lets see how long it works. so far every is great.

Good Programmer
As per other reviews, the software is easy to use. It does program chips not on the list, just pick a similar one (look up the specs on the chip before trying this, ex: is Vpp the same?). Intel AD28F256-200P1C2 is not on the list. Selected Advanced Micro's 28F256. The software complained about the device code, but, programmed it anyways. The 9V power cube was not included. You only need it if you connect it to an unpowered USB hub. There are cheaper programmers out there. I wanted something EASY to use. Looks like I got it.
