Wish I had found this sooner!
Hands down the best pet pen, only wish I had found this sooner! Is the price a little steep? Maybe, but once you have it you'll find its well worth the cost. Initially I went the cheaper route and got a pop up pet pen for my dog thinking it would be fine for a 4pound Chihuahua puppy. Worst decision - the pop up pen was very hard to clean because it absorbs all the urine and poop that missed the potty pads. You can't wash the pop up pens except by hand and at least for a puppy it was a nonstop hassle. The other downside of the popup was that my puppy could stand on her hind legs and topple the pop up pen over and escape. As she grew she could also then jump up and even with a mesh topper she chewed her way out. I was referred over to the Iris brand by several rescues who raved about them. Iris does have a smaller line of similar pens but I still prefer this one (and I now have 3 Iris pens). Here's what we love about this pen: it took 5 minutes to assemble, it slides across hardwood and carpet with one hand, its so easy and quick to clean, the coating on the side rails doesn't come off even with excessive chewing for days, the locking mechanism only needs two fingers to open/close, and the look is great for any decor. We purchased two of these in one month; the smallest one first then the largest. They operate and look the same. Initially purchased the smaller one to "test run" this and at the time we had 1 puppy, when we rescued the second puppy we got the largest model so they had more room and now we use them in separate rooms in our home. This pen is heavy enough to contain shepherds or malinois in terms of size although both breeds could easily jump out if you don't put an optional cover on. For our Chihuahuas that can jump almost 3 feet, this is perfect because they can't jump out and they cannot knock it over, even with three of them trying to push it. Clean up is a breeze, just slide the 4-sided "wall" off and clean the bottom tray & when done slide the wall back onto the track, and you're done. I use a swifter wet mop to mop it and it takes two minutes. I also love that the wiring is spaced out enough to give the dogs 100% view of their surroundings but close enough that small dogs can't get their heads stuck - which is an issue when you have a Chi puppy who's head is only 3.5 inches wide. The sliding door is SO MUCH better than the pop up pen style that have zippers. And the best part is that the dogs now play with their toys that are safe instead of trying to chew the fabric off the other style pens. I also want to point out that the four corners have interlocking hinges that you place a dowel like pin into that snaps it all into place, so there are no objects in the corners for the dogs to chew on, or rust out, or break. Obviously we love it because we bought two. We also purchased one of the smaller Iris puppy pens to place in our home office that didn't have the room for this style Iris pen. Here's the down side though and I want to be honest - if you are smaller than 5 foot 2 inches you may have an issue reaching into the pen from the top because of its height which is nearly 3 feet. The wife is 5"2' is when she bends over into the crate the sides are in her armpits. Its tolerable but it may irritate some folks - if that is you then look at the smaller version of this Iris pen. I'm 5 foot 9 inches and I can reach in comfortably with the exception of wiping some piddle in the dead center. For that I've learned to use my small swifter and its much easier. Definitely worth the investment to provide a safe and easy to clean pen for our dogs. Sadly the only picture we had at the time was one with the crate in the background. Also for a pro tip - if you have puppies or want your food/water bowls off the ground then this pen works well with attachable bowl clip holders you can also purchase on Amazon called "MidWest Homes for Pets 2 Pack of Snap'y Fit Water and Food Bowls, 10 Ounces each, for Dog Crates". This is a great ad on to keep the bowls off the ground or for us we needed strong bowl holders that two rough housing puppies couldn't knock over.

Love it
Worth the money as it looks so nice in my apartment. Not plasticky. I have a 4lbs yorkie so this is like overkill, and visitors have called it her condo! Lol. She’s rarely in it, but I like knowing she has lots of room when I’m gone, and I bought those screw in water and food dishes which fit well in the wire walls. She can’t scratch her way out (which she did with her first pop out vinyl crate.) at first I regretted the size but I really wanted an open top crate which this is. I know they make nice looking cozy crates with tops you can use as end tables, but I have a pretty severe spine injury so it’s much easier for me to put her in thru the top of this crate. Hard to find this design. And the door slides and locks easily. Oh and hah! No way a 4lb yorkie can jump out of this height. She’s so comfy in it that she’s quiet as a mouse and doesn’t even whine or beg to be let out. I bought a rubber back kitch/bath rug on floor, then hee round soft bed, toys and those screw in food dishes and it’s just perfect. She can hold it, but plenty of room for pee pads if needed. Highly praise and def worth the money.

Sturdy and aesthetically pleasing
I dont yet have my puppy, but wanted to be prepared. I liked this "crate" because it came large enough to be more of a play pen for a mini dachshund. One of the major drawing factors was that the horizontal bars were spaced far apart. My last dachshund figured out how to climb pen walls day one. I'm hoping the spaced out horizontal bars will be the fix for my next dog to not learn how to do so.The box arrived in tact but looking rough, however the product itself was unscathed. It was easy to assemble, and with pliers would be easy to disassemble if needed. Door slides smoothly and feels secure when shut.

Improvements Can be Made
Great cage for small pets. I use it for my Cockapoo that weighs less than 20lbs.Cage is simple to setup, but wish it had some design choices to make it a better experience. The screws are circular, which make the cage prone to folding without the little clips on the side that hold the cage panels in place. - Screws could be squared instead of circular to massively improve this. The side clips are plastic and could be of stronger material for the price. The tray is weak plastic. Your dog may chew it up or break pieces off due to wear. __ I simply use the tray on top of the cage to give the cage some shade from the house lights. Also gives yhe cage a cozier feel when placing a blanket over the top & keeps the pet from trying to hop over the top.

Plastic locking mechanism broke in 6 weeks
So disappointed. The cage is less than 6 weeks old and my puppy already chewed through the plastic locking mechanism on the inside of the cage. The dog is only in this cage when we are in the same room and for very little time each day. The dog already tore off one of the two plastic pieces that keeps the cage door shut. He's pretty much chewed through the other one and I'm sure that will be falling off any day now. Emailed the manufacturer directly to see if I could get a replacement part (would have been willing to pay for it). They said they don't offer a replacement part for that part of the cage. Now it's $150 down the drain when the next little plastic hook falls off.Why would they use such thin plastic parts inside of a dog cage?

Nice Looking Crate
This wasn't too hard for me to assemble by myself. It's sturdy & looks much better in my living room than the wire crate I had in there. There's more room for my puppy & his bed fits perfectly. I like that I can place things on top of the crate as well. I totally recommend.

Amazing
Was really easy to put together, simple push pin into pre drilled holes and the whole thing came together. With two people building it together took about 20 mins. And the size was perfect for my Cavapoo and safe to say he absolutely loves it
