GMS WiFi Automatic Pill Dispenser - 28 Compartment Reminder with Rechargeable Battery and Wall Plug-in

Update June 4,2019Added one star back as the app has been working well for the past few months. Pillbox still going strong and allowing my mom to be independent. The lid should be a tighter fit as tiny pills can get stuck between the lids when you turn to pour out the pills. I use 3 Velcro straps to secure the lid down so no room for pills to get trapped.Update Oct. 31, 2018I'm taking away 2 stars because since the new app update, the app has not been working well. It often says the unit is offline when it's not and I'm getting notifications of many other people's alarm on my phone! As mentioned the pillbox still works when offline but then you can't remotely control it. Please revert back to previous app version!****************My mom has dementia and making sure she takes all her meds at the right time and not double take each day has been a challenge living 2.5 hours away. I've tried other non wifi automated pill boxes which work great too but my mom still forgot many days since she would come home after the reminder stops or she didn't hear the reminder. I am now able to monitor and control her pill box from my home! I can tell if she has taken her meds or not. It'll send me a message after a certain time I set to let me know if she hasn't taken her pills then I would call her to take them. The unit needs to be plugged in but I can tell if somehow it got unplugged. I can change the time she takes her meds and allow her to take them earlier if need be or skip a dose due to exceptions in her activities or situation. It's been up and running for a month now and so far no problems with the unit and she has not missed any dose!The unit connected easily at my home when I was testing it but it took 3 tries before I was able to connect to her wifi but once connected it has worked perfectly. It will tell you if it goes offline. The pill box will still work but you just won't be able to monitor or control it till it is reconnected to the wifi which so far it has reconnected on it's own.The software could be better. Sometimes the status doesn't update right away so you need to get out and go back in to the app to see the status change.Overall a great pill box to help make sure my mom is taking her meds properly without having an aide which is very important to her!

After months of fighting with this thing it is beyond difficult to use. I am a software developer and the user interface is hard to understand and use, WiFi losses connection frequently and is difficult if not impossible to reconnect. Small pills migrate from one space into another or into the latch. The locking mechanism is difficult to use. The battery life is poor. The Android app is not user friendly. Their customer service did send me another unit but all the same problems. I really wanted this to work well to help us with dispensing pills for my mother-in-law who lives at home with us and is at home while we work. I can't imagine having to deal with this while not in the same house. I guess we'll have to set an alarm on her phone and go with the cheap plastic bin method.

I purchased this product for my father whom was slipping into dementia. It was slightly difficult to set up the phone app and the medication dispenser since I am not all that technically advanced. When there was a medication change and I had to add medication to the dispenser it became difficult to change the day and time to the app for me. Otherwise they dispenser works well the locking mechanism is sturdy the dispenser itself is sturdy, the Locking door is easy to slide open and close. The machine light up and the Machine will also talk when the medication is ready to do to be dispensed. And the phone will tell you when the medication is ready to be dispensed as well. I was having difficulty with the phone telling me if the medication was actually taken or not. For security reasons this has been a wonderful medication dispenser. If I was more advanced with the app and phone I might have been able to work out the glitches. My father has sent passed on.

My Mom has dementia , it’s important for her to remember to take her pills on time . This product does just that ! If you live next door or far away ... you’ll be alerted on your smart phone if your ‘person’ misses a dose . Change pill taking times from your phone . Pill dispenser has flashing light a loud signal to alert when dosage should be taken . This dispenser has been a godsend !!!However .... it stoped working properly after several months ... which became a huge problem !!! Luckily I was able to return it . Don’t know if I just got a bad one or if they’re all bad ... I will take the gamble and buy another one , because it was that useful ...... when it worked !!! Good luck !!!

Mom had trouble remembering to take her daily medication. I looked at a lot of different pill dispensers and chose this one. I like that it locks and that the monitoring is free (I am sure that will change in the future). Even so it is way more affordable than other units and subscriptions that are available.The instructions are a little tricky. But with a little patience they are okay.I can get my fingers into the compartment, but you may have to tip the unit to get the pills out.
