Medusa the Mean (8) (Goddess Girls)

Cheers for the Snake-hair Extraordinaire!
Medusa is a rock star! Once she learns how to trust and be herself, she steals the show. She can turn people into stone, stir the pot, and is easy to spot! She's more hardcore than the frat godboys and outshines the shimmering goddessgirls. Medusa should never try to be like those gals. I see more costumes of her than any of them on Halloween anyway.Medusa also catches the eye of godboy, Dionysus, who is mesmerized by the snake charmer. When he sees Medusa hurt a helpless girl's feelings, however, the carefree godboy turns dutiful and scolds her harmful behavior. Medusa feels unexpected hurt. It's a turning point as she journeys to being a better person. The journey isn't easy but it's entertaining. By the way, the actual Medusa myth makes me uncomfortable. But in this version, Poseidon is actually brought to justice by our lippy heroine who can hold her ground. And the end is happy. Thankfully, it's not the total cliché, we're-all-friends ending. Nope! I mean, Medusa is a nice girl--but not too nice! Love it! Cheers for the snake-hair extraordinaire!

The Queen of Mean
I absolutely LOVE the Goddess Girl series. As a lifelong fan of both mythology and children's literature, I started the series before I knew I was pregnant with my daughter. After she was born, I started over with book 1 and read them aloud at her bedtime. I just know she will enjoy the set on her own when she gets older. That being said, Medusa the Mean doesn't disappoint. The authors do a wonderful job detailing exactly why Medusa is so mean and why she does and says the things she does. But I must stop with that because I don't want to give any spoilers.

GoddessGirls book eight
Who knew that the school's bully had feelings too? Medusa confides that she was disliked by her parents and her sisters, and all she wants is to be immortal. But will the immortalizer necklace she wants work? And how can she get the money? Not to mention that Zeus and Hera are getting married, and she has no wedding gift! The groomsmen are holding a competition for their bridesmaids, and Medusa so desperately wants Posiden to pick her. But when she realizes how shallow he is, will she opt for Dionysus? Girls 8+ will love the series, and this is the best so far!By Naree Asherian

Highly Recommended Book
I bought the book for my daughter whom the author dedicated the book to as well as a few others. Curiosity got the better of me since I keep on buying books at the behest of my daughter and not reading or skimming through any of them. I thought the book was exceptional with humorous plot lines and characters. The author puts a modern twist on myths as well as explore subjects that pique the interest of young readers and me ^_^ akin to modern society. The book has an understandable structure. No wonder my daughter loves it and can't wait for the next installment!

When writing is done right
I gave this book to my granddaughter for her 12th birthday. She loves stories about Greek mythology, and this is what she just told me about this book:"I really like this book. I'm not even reading the words. It's like a movie playing in my head.Well done, Joan Holub and Suzanne Williams for making this book come alive. This is the mark of exceptional writing. Kudos, also, from me to the book's designer. The font and leading are perfect for this age group. (Caveat: I'm a book designer, so I'm sensitive to this sort of thing.)

Snake Girl Steals the Show
Medusa the Mean is a wonderful additional to a fun series. Medusa comes into her own in this 2 hour read, she realizes what is important, gets a guy, and make friends. She is relatable in that she just wants friends and she has a supercrush who doesnt know she exists.I love this series and would highly recommend it to children or for parents to read aloud. The books in this series teach morals coated in a quirky mythology setting.

Terrific Story
This book gave an excellent point of view from Medusa. I loved the whole cat and mouse game going on between Poseidon and Medusa. In the end, Medusa finds her happy ending, just not with the godboy she expected. If anything, I`d just like to see the story from the godboy and goddess(or mortal in this case)girl point of view. All in all, amazing book.

A quick read, ages eight to eleven I'd say.Not the greatest book, some incorrect details, since it is supposed to be based on Greek myths and legends
