... edition to the family and decided it was a good time to write a review
I originally bought this dog house back in 2014 for my 90-100 lb doberman and am looking to buy the smaller version for our latest edition to the family and decided it was a good time to write a review. Its an excellent dog house and the best one there is if you are looking to protect your dog from the elements due to the swinging door and hollow panel construction that contains insulation. I do have a gripe about the insulation claims. The insulation they use is very small styrofoam beads/pellets and not solid styrofoam panels that you may be led to believe. Those beads/pellets only fill the wall panels about 1/4-1/3 of the way to the top. Same situation in the ceiling panels and door. I think you can probably figure out the issue with that! After the first year I ended up drilling some small holes and filling in the empty spaces with low expansion foam insulation. I also installed a "Hound heater" . The inside of the house now gets nice and warm especially once the dog is in there.I paid 196 dollars and change back in 2014 and it looks like the prices have gone up considerably since then. :(Pros: Very durable construction Very easy to assemble the 4 wall, 2 ceiling, 1 floor and 1 door panels Warmest dog house available that I could findCons: Insulation could be better. See above.

The only dog house I feel comfortable having out for my dog.
I'll start with the negatives, which are very few. I wish that this house was a bit wider. My dog, a leggy 90 lb purebred Lab, appears quite comfy in this house the way it is so this isn't her complaint. Her indoor hangout was a wire crate that is twice the width so I wanted her to be able to sprawl out like she did in there. She may be able to in this house but I have no clue. I can't see her when she's in there. I also wish there were vents on the side but again, in the hot, rainy, muggy South Florida weather, my dog has no complaints. She has emerged completely dry. And that's where the complaints stop.My dog was an indoor dog but due to a family member with a weakened immune system, she had to move outdoors. I purchased another regular style dog house that came with a shingled roof, overhang for when it rains and she was fine with it but I wasn't. I was preparing to go into the expense of pulling permits to put in an outbuilding for her until I found this dog house. It is completely sealed from the elements and completely dry even after the typical torrential downpours Miami has during the summer. Flooding in the yard also isn't an issue since the water would have to be several inches high before it becomes a concern. The solar fan works like a charm. I also purchased the heater pad and cover for the cooler weeks ahead. The accessories are well made and implemented.I've had my dog since she was old enough to be separated from her mother. She's been my best friend and companion through many ups and downs and has even saved my hide a few times. I would spend my last dime to make sure she is comfortable, safe, and protected. I love this dog house so much that when she is finally able to be an indoor dog again it will come inside with her and the crate will be put away. I initially felt that "for a dog house" it was quite expensive and what if it didn't work. Not a concern. This is worth every penny!

Good, sturdy doghouse
Easy enough to assemble. Much easier with two people to push pieces while screwing together. The screws for the bottom went in angled up and did not go through the floor enough because they came through the top of the floor. We used straw to keep our dog warm. He was so happy to go inside from the very beginning. He's a bullmastif boxer mix and fits comfortably.

Very Warm in the Harsh Wisconsin Winters
I bought the Dog Palace for my yellow lab (70 lb). He's an outside dog and we needed something to keep him warm in the harsh Wisconsin winters. With the house, I purchased the floor heater. It is surprising how warm his house stays, even at below zero temps. He did have a bit of an issue learning how to get in and out of the house, as the door swings vertically. There are helpful hints in the assembly instructions on how to train your dog to use the swinging door. After about two weeks of practice, my dog now feels comfortable going in and out of the house without assistance. I have not had a chance to use the Dog Palace in the summer months yet, but am confident that we will like it.Assembly is quite easy. I like the fact that the house is easy to take a part of cleaning purposes. The floor is slanted and has a drain in case there are any accidents inside.

I hate this dog house
Majorly designed poorly for rain. Roof should overhand the sides, but instead slide into them. And the “insulation” is pellets not solid, so lots of area for cold air to penetrate. I wanted to return it but it wouldn’t fit in my car. Better off buying a step2 play house and some cans of expanding foam insulation.

Good, but could be better.
This is a great dog house, however, improvements could be made. The plugs that fill the holes (where the insulation gets blown in) are not dog-proof according to the tests performed by my two pooches... Hence, some of the insulation has escaped. Also, because the insulation is blown in, it does tend to settle, leaving areas between the two walls UN-insulated. I think they have a fairly good product here, but feel it falls short, and could definitely use some refinements.

My dog loves it!
I hesitated before buying. I was wondering if the house is not strong and big enough for my dog? Would my dog stay inside since she never had a dog house before? At the moment I set it up and throw my dog's old pillow bed inside. My dog rushed inside and stay there. She loves it. There is more than enough room for my dog. It is also very cute looking on my patio. The set up is very easy. It seems very strong can last for a few years. Two of my friends bought it after I highly recommend it. Winter is coming.
