AA Performance Products Silver Line Cam Bearings for Type 1 and Vanagon Water Box -STD Double Trust-

These bearings never fit right! They are always a bit wide make sure you check the endplay of the camshafty and file the thrust bearing(s) as necessary. The bearings I got work great!

Worked great with my 74 vw 1600. Dune buggy Warehouse is the best.

Probably one of the better aircooled VW cam bearing available on the US market, albeit a little tight in the thrust.The "trick" to installing these bearings is to properly seat them into the case and check for endplay. To do this you need to install all the bearing into their saddles and torque the case halves together (obviously this is done in the mock up phase and not finally assembly). Using a dead blow or brass hammer and wood dowel, smack the cam on the front where it engages the oil pump then hit it a few times on the back (front of engine/flywheel side) through the cam access hole.What this does is properly conform the bearing to the case saddle.At this point check the endplay and if it is too tight you can sand down the thrust surface with super fine grit sand paper on a piece of glass.
