Love It and Learn!
At one time, rock stars were seen as artists and performers, oblivious and unconcerned about marketing their craft. In this terrific book, Steve Jones tells the REAL story -- how some of the most successful, durable rockers are brilliant marketers (whether intentionally or not), and most importantly, what we can learn from them. From AC/DC's consistency to the passionate "tribes" that support Jimmy Buffet and Grateful Dead, to the unique look that turned "just another" band into the world-renowned KISS, Jones illustrates the marketing principles essential for business success....WHATEVER the business. My favorite chapter is "The Opposite of Love." Jones shows that it doesn't really matter if the vast majority of the people hate you, as long as a core of consumers are passionate fans. The hard core can make you very successful...look at Justin Bieber, Red Bull or the Yankees!I loved this book!...I found it entertaining, fun and informative. I highly recommend it to anyone into music, into marketing or (like many of us) into both.

Brand Like A Rock Star
This book is a very quick, enjoyable read. We spend our lives surrounded by music, the stars of music and the branding that goes with them. Now, Steve has narrowed the focus and made Rock and Roll the center of a Marketing book.Who knew that the Backstreet Boys "Millennium" sold as many copies at Fleetwood Mac's "Rumors?" Interesting...and that's only one nugget used to backup a point.Steve takes you through the identification of Brand to the consistencies and differences of successful brands. Examples used range from AC/DC to Kiss to Bob Marley to Old Spice. The prose moves along well and the book gives you great examples of branding exercises and makes them connect with whatever Brand you're working.Whether you have an established brand or are creating a new one, Brand Like A Rockstar will certainly put and keep you on the right course.

Marketing Adventures
Whether you own a company, running one or have future plans to do so- Brand Like A Rock Star should be on your bookshelf. I felt as if Steve Jones was taking me on different marketing adventures of the mistakes and successes of bands and brands. It's a fun and interesting read into the world of marketing and I love the 5-Step Programs that conclude each chapter. I've always hated hearing those 2 DEADLY words to avoid, I'm glad that was a focus in Brand Like A Rock Star. Chapter 12, 14 and 18 were my favourite. As an aspiring manager, this book (and some chicken scratch on sticky notes I've added to some pages) will continue to be used for inspiration and guidance for years to come.If I were to rate this book, on an "amp scale" This would most definitely go to eleven. It's totally 1 louder.

Rock and Roll is the Answer !
As a business owner and in the sales business, all of us have to be even more cognitive of branding either personal or corporate in the age of social media. For those of us who grew up with rock and roll Steve's book breaks branding and marketing down into an easy and understandable method. After reading this book you can go back to your parents and tell them that when you listened to AC DC, U2, Van Halen, Bruce Springsteen and others while growing up...you really were studying for your future. Even they can read it now and relate to their youth with The Beatles, Beach Boys and Bob Dylan. Great Read !

Excellent insights, very well written
Chapter after chapter after chapter of this book delivers. It's rare to find this in business books today. The book is very well organized, with illuminating examples from several different decades of rock and roll history sure to be of interest no matter what generation you come from. Jones interweaves the musical examples with examples from other kinds of companies or products, from cannolis in the North End of Boston to Harley-Davidson and Kentucky Fried Chicken.I read a lot of business books, and there was very little in this book that I felt I had heard or read before. Highly recommended.

I want my money back
Typical of most how-to books published in the last decade, this was useless fluff that never delivered on its promises. There were ZERO inside stories from bands or rock stars. There were ZERO tricks or secrets. It simply repeated over and over not to dilute your brand. I am pissed off at how useless this book was. Not entertaining. Not informative. Junk.

Unfortunately not the best gig you'll ever read
A great concept and some fun musical history but the conclusions on branding were mostly a bit hackneyed. Some were out of date and others contradicted themselves in later chapters - shame
