"Almost 3 weeks later" review
So I initially gave this item a solid 4 stars (closer to 5 really), only knocking off ~1 star just because of how absurd it feels to pay $40 for a slab of aluminum. At the time time, I felt that given the market price of similar items and the overall solid feel of the item, it wasn't the worst purchase I've ever made.Surprise surprise...its still not the worst purchase I've ever made, and its still a 4ish star item, but this time my opinion of it leans the opposite way. This time its closer to a 3.5 than it is to a 4, but since none of the rated features above are what caused the change in my review, I left the number of stars the same but present to you this mini wall of text to explain why.I closed my original review by saying something along the lines of, "it feels kind of ridiculous paying $40 for a piece of aluminum, but based on the sturdy feel of the material, I think it's not the worst buy ever, especially since all it's direct competitors are priced are the same price point".The universe, it seems, is not without a sense of humor. Please see the attached photos. After complimenting the item's sturdy overall feel, I came to discover ... whatever that is. It looks like while the metal was cooling, something got into the mold and created some kind of lump. All you had to do was be a solid piece of aluminum... and that's it... be a piece of aluminum bent in the shape of a squatty potty, and hold my MacBook off the table. instead of doing your one job, you embarrass me. You embarrass yourself! (in my best terrance Howard voice).Looking at the photos, I think its pretty apparent that that lump wasn't caused by user error and that it's a manufacturing defect. I mean... it doesn't really change the usability of the item I guess. it just looks like it got soccer kicked in the face. If it had a face. And if the base of the stand was that face.Furthermore, it makes me question the overall quality control that went into this product. The fan on the underside of the stand... I now have an unsettling feeling that it will fail within the next 2-3 weeks of usage. Down from the 2-3 months I initially estimated. I should never have spent that extra $2s for the fan. I am such a fool. I've been bamboozeled.

Great laptop stand that is missing a power switch for the fan.
Love the laptop stand. The metal and paint is good quality. All of the pads are placed symmetrically and the no slip pads work very well. The fan is relatively quiet. Not sure how long the fan will last but I am optimistic. One star taken off because there is no power switch to control the fan. For some people, this is not a problem. If you are a mac user, the only option to turn the fan off when the mac is a sleep is to use the terminal to switch sleep to hibernate, which takes a little longer to boot up. Could easily be avoided if a switch was included. Fortunately, there are USB power switch adapters available on amazon as well!

Best choice you’ll make.
Sturdy and has a fan which is exactly what I wanted. Definitely worth it. I compared it to the ones my friends got and they will be getting mine and returning theirs.

Stand is SOLID, fan.... not so much
The stand is very solid and I like it a lot.Now the big issue is the fan.If you have windows ultrabook or any other thin-profile laptop, your cooling vents are likely on the bottom where a a pair of blowers suck hot air from the CPU/other components and then blow it out through the vents. The fan blows upwards into the laptop, but why is that an issue? Because it prevents the hot air being blown out by the puny blowers in your laptop and actually makes your laptop hotter. Temps on my laptop increased by 10-15C after I turned the fan on so I'll probably just remove the fan and use the stand.I guess this would be a non-issue for MacBooks because they don't have vents on the bottom like most windows laptops, but beware if you have vents on the bottom of your laptop! The stand is solid though so I'll give it 4-stars.

Clean and Effective
I noticed that my Macbook was getting hot while programming at work and I had a similar stand to this just without the fan on the bottom. I thought to myself that cutting a hole and adding a fan would probably help, and then assumed that someone had to have thought of that already, which lead me to this product. Excellent product, it matches the common design for these types of laptop stands and most people don't even realize it has a fan. Once coworkers realize that it has a fan they ask me where I got it and usually pick one up themselves.

Great quality and value!
I love this product! It looks stylish and is very sturdy. The fan works great and is pretty quiet for what it is, I do have to turn it off for video conferences, but it’s a big deal. I love having space underneath the laptop, it helps with desk space.

Nice price, should be deeper for holding the laptop better
I have a 15.6 standard size laptop and it hangs off the back. When I press the power button, it tips backwards. I'll find a solution to that.It is a sturdy piece but I wish they had made it deeper. It is far narrower than the laptop but that would be fine if it had more depth. Also, the model with the fan is incredibly loud. I may swap it with a slower fan.

Cool jets
Great product! My Mac no longer heats up! A slight hum sound from the fan, but it becomes white noise after a while
