Came for the quality, stayed for the fantastic customer service.
This is great automatic chicken door, with fantastic customer service. The door opens consistently and on time every day rain or shine. The metal door has kept out predators, of which we have many. The only issues I've had were not the fault of the door, but my installation. When I originally built the coop I cut the door without thinking I'd need an automatic door, so I cut it too wide. When I installed the door, I had to fill in the opening with boards. Unfortunately, I did not let the boards dry before I used them, so I had to reposition the guide rails after installation. The second issue was caused by a small split in the head board. A piece stuck out into the path of the door. The door's strong motor powered through it, but I must have taxed it over time, causing the motor to burn out. Make sure you check your door every so often, because even though the door is "set it and forget it," your coop may not be. But here's the amazing part. I emailed the company to ask about a replacement--and they responded within hours! They sent me a detailed explanation of tests to perform to determine what the true cause of the failure was. It took me a week to find the time to perform the test, but when I sent them the results--they responded the next day! They confirmed my suspicion that the motor had failed and gave me the option to buy it from them (my warranty had long since expired). But because the part would take some time to ship--they directed me to another, less expensive option, from a parts seller. That is terrific customer service. They were more concerned about getting me up and running than making a quick buck. Because of that, and because the quality of their product is top notch, I am recommending JVR-Online to everyone.

Hardy, basic, does exactly what you need it to do when you need it.
K.I.S.S.Keep it simple just like JVR's coop door. It does exactly what you want, and I can't say I have a whole lot of gripes with it. If you want automation on the farm and can plug this into an outlet, this is it. The other chicken doors out there with wifi, bluetooth, cheap built in connections, rechargeable batteries that have to be changed out, solar, and a bunch of unnecessary junk will break down and waste your time and money every single time. Even the ones with "good" reviews. One winter and they're worth less than scrap. This door is the only one I've found that so far is completely bulletproof. It's sealed up and secure, easily survives negative degree midwestern winters, and is also a farmer's dream because it's easy to repair ANY connection on it and fix/replace ANYTHING if it does go wrong since all the wiring is exposed by just opening up the latch holding the seal.Warranty service/product support is, unbelievably, extremely responsive, as well. I lost power to the unit one time and they responded to me via email almost immediately; helping me find the reason which ended up not even being a problem with the unit at all. Sure as hell beats out 99% of the ag companies that don't even bother responding to you or taking a call.Only gripes with this door is that:1) it doesn't have any option for rechargeable backup batteries, so all of the functional parts are entirely dependent on having constant power. The timer does, though, so it's really not even that bad. With how accessible the unit is, I think I'll be able to even wire an adapter into it, because it is literally just that easy to modify.2) The biggest problem: the safety mechanism is annoying to set up and less desirable than a pressure related safety sensor. If the door wants to close; IT WILL. If it wants to open; IT WILL. If that sensor doesn't flag as blocked: It WILL CLOSE. No matter what's in its way. The motor and gears are STRONG. Don't get me wrong, this is a very good thing in my book, but can also become pretty dangerous on the off chance an animal gets caught underneath it and doesn't trip the sensor. But again it's not "too bad" of an issue if the sensor is properly set and you time the close function for well past sundown. I have not had any issues so far, fingers crossed.Overall, 5/5. It's the best door on the market for my purposes. You can't beat the reliability, heavy duty design, customer service, and fixability. To my knowledge, no other product like this exists that can even remotely compare. They earned my business if I ever need more.

Stellar service
I purchased my auto coop door last winter and it sat in my garage until spring. When I began to install it and test it the controller did not work. I did what I normally do and started taking everything apart. I wasn’t able to find the issue as everything was sound. It was Easter Sunday and I zipped off a quick email to customer service for help.James with JVR answered the same day with the solution to my exact problem; an internal battery had lost its charge. His detailed instructions got me on track and the door worked perfectly. The speedy response and helpful service was very appreciated but what really got me was the respect. James with JVR encouraged me dismantle the parts and fix the problem. I was not told to order a new part or send it in for replacement/repair. It is refreshing to have a company lead a customer to make a quick repair themself. The product is quality construction and the service is stellar. KUDOS to JVR and especially James.

Measure!
The reason this got 4 stars instead of 5 is the lightweight nature of the door runs. Otherwise I'm very happy with it. I understand that they split the door in two for shipping reasons. The door runs should be made of something heavier IMHO. It works, it wasn't hard to program or install, and serves as the exterior pop door on the chicken coop because we've got a trash panda (raccoon) lurking. What made this door desirable was the arm (most automatic doors operate on a string where a clever raccoon could figure out how to lift and get in) that holds the door down. If I was going to make improvements to this, I would rather a solid door and as mentioned before, heavier duty door runs. The movement mechanism is great.

Happy chickens
We have used our automatic chicken door for almost exactly a year when it stopped working. After 3 timely contacts a JVR technician our issue was solved and the issue was with our connecting cord and not our JVR door! So patient and helpful. We love the convenience of our door as my husband no longer needs to make the nightly treck to the coop to secure the door and our chickens are free to roam all day in the pasture.
