Great little utility corkscrew and gift!
This is the corkscrew that I give away as a stocking stuffer because it's compact, it's easy to work, doesn't require batteries, and it DOESN'T BREAK CORKS. That's all assuming you know how to use it correctly.Being a huge wine snob, I automatically assume everyone has one of these, and then when I see someone rip out a Houdini to open a bottle of wine with a synthetic cork I want to smack them. It will pierce the cork all the way through, and since synthetic doesn't soak up the way real cork does, it will leak when you lay bottles on the side. URGHHH. Using this thing will keep nice corks from breaking. The double hinge keeps them from breaking and gently finesses them out with a good hand. It's easy to use, smooth, and comes in a ton of fun colors. It's a quarter of the price of the pulltap model which does the EXACT same thing.I demo how easy it is-and I keep an extra in my purse most of the time, because most of the time there's a need for the little blade on the end anyway. But for as inexpensive as these are, there's no reason you can't grab a few for every person in your life, in their favorite color. Keep a few on hand as a last minute gift idea, or an oh crap gift. Love Love Love.

Perfect
this is the second one I got my daughter. She is a bartender and she loves them. They are sturdy, long lasting and easy to use. Love the different color choices.

Great corkscrew
This is a great corkscrew for the price. Using a double hinge it makes pulling out corks easy. No more struggling with the rabbit ear style. We go through a bottle a week and this works just as well as more expensive models we've owned. Foil cutter works fine as well. Just screw it in, use the first catch to pull it out, unscrew a bit or just use the second catch if you've done it right. Pull it out. No more broken corks, easy to use, can't be beat. Great quality for the price.

Pretty Nice
I like the color and since this color was quite a bit cheaper it is a bargain corkscrew. The flip out foil cutting blade is a bit small and has very fine serrations which do not cut really well, but with practice you can get the foil off without slipping and cutting yourself. A curved blade with larger serrations would be an improvement. The screw is a bit thinner than I expected but it goes through synthetic and natural corks with ease. The part of the screw that attaches to the body and forms the hinge is narrow but pretty strong, no bending has occurred thorough many uses. The double hinged system is fairly good at getting out the cork including some longer ones. After screwing the screw almost all the way into the cork, you use the first silver lever and it pries the cork up quite a bit, then you position the second lever and pry all the way out. You have to go slow on the second lever since going fast can cause a POP and some wine may get sucked up and splashed out when you pull the cork. All in all a decent cork screw at a really good price. No more fancy ones for me, even the Screwpull has gone way downhill, I have been through 3 of them in the past 5 years or so.UPDATE: A little less than a year of use and about a few hundred bottles, the straight sides of the levers that press against the lip of the bottle have flattened. This is because the steel isn't strong enough to handle the extreme pressure you might need to get some of the olde,r dryer, or synthetic corks out of today's wine bottles. Both levers suffered this fate and now the levers slip right off the lip. Still not a bad screw for how cheap it was. My next one will probably be the popular Spanish one.

Parakeet-green wonder-lever!
I recently began having wine with dinner (more than just once or twice a year), and the difficulty of popping corks with only an old-fashioned corkscrew finally caught up to me (and my husband -- sad when it won't budge with both of us pulling!) So I surfed Amazon for an ergonomic cork-popper, and fell in love with this one because it really looks like a helpful little parakeet! Plus it looked like it would give me the needed leverage to get out those pesky corks. It did not disappoint! Sure, you could pay more for a fancy gadget, but this works neatly and easily, and gosh, I could hardly choose among the awesome designer colors. I chose the lime green because I thought it looked so budgie-ish (with an obliging little beak in case we ever want to open a beer!) And at $5 for a sturdy little tool that will most likely last until I lose it, I didn't see how I could go wrong. Well, I did find the same model at a local grocery for $2 (oops!), but they only had it in boring black and maybe one other dull color. So no complaints here. Maybe some day I'll even get it a mate! ;)

Sometimes simpler is better
I have several gimmicky wine openers, including electronic and manual ones, that fall on the broad spectrum of prices. After five years, this is still my go to one. It's easy to use and super reliable, no more half corks or pieces of corks in my wine. It takes up almost no space in my kitchen. People think it's complicated to use when they see it, but just watch a YouTube video and you'll be opening bottles like a pro in under five minutes.

No heft.
It works, but ..This corkscrew is inexpensive and the cost savings are reflected in the product. It is very light and made out thin metal and plastic. Has no heft at all. The handle is rather small and thin. When pulling the cork it cuts into the hand or feels like it is going to slip out of your hand. Otherwise it has done the job so far and has not broken.

Great little corkscrew for the money
Can't see why the Truetap corkscrew will not serve to open lots of wine for many years . . . appears to be very well built. Of all the crazy styles of corkscrews out there, this type seems to be the easiest and most practical. No wonder most restaurant server professionals use this type of corkscrew. Great value at less than $10 although the list price of over $100 is clearly a mistake . . . come on Amazon get that corrected, these are not made of titanium or gold !??
