Exact replacement!
After checking for my broken part on the GE website and seeing the cost was around $60, I was surprised to see this same item for such a drastic difference in price. Although a little skeptical, thinking the quality would not be as good, I was so happy that the product was an exact replacement to the original. Relatively east to install, only a little difficult to get the old ice maker separated without cracking the brittle plastic. But no damage and in about 15 minutes the job was complete. Very satisfied!

Ice maker auger
I followed instructions on YouTube, I was able to install the auger. My problem was the round end was a tiny bit longer than my unit was able to use. The auger was not able to turn.

This part was easy to replace with the help of YouTube, a few of my husbands tools and one of the best 90’s songs ever.

Perfectly replaced my original ice bucket auger!
This auger was exactly the replacement part I needed to fix my in-laws’ ice dispenser. It feels very sturdy and the ice dispenser is working great now. It’s not very complicated to install, but it can be a little tricky to put the blades back on. The dispenser has about five or six blades with a couple different sized spacers between them. I didn’t keep track of the exact order each blade and spacer was arranged before I removed the blades from the old auger, but I was able to find some videos online that helped.I recommend removing the blades and spacers from the old auger one at a time and laying them out in order so they’re easy to put on the new auger.

Be Prepared Before You Install This
I had already read the reviews on the installation, so I knew to be prepared. There is a really good video on YouTube that is useful to have so that you can follow the procedures step-by-step. Sometimes I had to go back and review a step several times. Several other takeaways from this. 1) Let the ice tray get to room temperature (about 30 minutes) before doing anything, as the plastic can be more susceptible to cracking/breaking. 2) A putty knife comes in handy when trying to release the two side tabs on the auger housing. 3) Take several photos of the blades and spacers on the auger prior to disassembly. These provide a good reference point when putting it back together. Overall, the job took me just under an hour.

Needs to be adjusted to fit
I bought this auger for its price and high number of acceptable reviews. Once, I received it and transferred the metal knifes, I confirmed it did not match the slot dimension of the original auger. Then looking at many reviews in detail, I found a mix of reviews of "100% fit" to "I had to adjust it". First, I filed for return and refund. Then, looking at many other options, I found the same kind of reviews. My conclusion was, I need to either get the GE original part at a higher price and possibly delay delivery, or I proceed to adjust the slot as many others have made. At least, I did not find the adjustment was detrimental to the performance of the knifes. SO, I canceled the return and proceeded to adjust the slot of the auger. I used a grinding wheel for this purpose. After some minutes of grinding, I got the slot at the desired dimension to fit the knifes and spacers in the same distribution as the original setup. After reassembling the ice drawer, everything worked as expected and problem solved. At this point, I believe there are some ice crushers that might have the exact slot dimension as this one where grinding is not necessary; and others where grinding is necessary to fit the knifes as designed. That is why I am giving it a 3-star.About durability, only time and use will tell.
