'finally a BLUEPRINT to parenting"
I've only read the Bible more than this book. Searching for questions, a friend offered this book to me. I must admit, hesitation was my best friend at the time. I immediately thought of the movie "she's out of control" staring Tony Danza. He had a teenage daughter who was starting to grow out of control, so Tony character turned to a radio psychologist, whom offered him sound advice about parenting. How funny the dialogued played out, but the more advice tony received the worse is relationship with is daughter developed, until finally tony asked the doctor, do these methods work with your own daughter? The doctor replied, "I don't even have children". That's where my dilemma began, i wanted advice and knowledge, but i was careful from where. Then i realized that anything better than what i knew couldn't be bad. So i read Emotionally healthy children. This book will not only make you a better parent, but a person in whole. We could easily call this book raising an emotionally healthy world. Who doesn't want to feel respected or included? i recommend this book to anyone whether you have children or not. Rarely do we make conscious decision, for we live by programmed memory, this book however forces your mind to think and create new strategies to interact with your children. you may not believe this book is perfect for parenting, however, i trust each page will have you challenging the idea of perfecting your parenting. Parents are children first teachers, why shouldn't we have the right curriculum to teach from. Thank you Dr. Gerald Newmark, your book has help me immensely.

Emotionally intelligent kids with emotionally healthy parents/adults/teachers change the world
This was an excellent, informative read. As a childless woman who is committed to personal growth & recovery from my own childhood, this book hit home. It's a must read for parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles, non parents & educators. This short book is simple, straight forward, practical & has reflective exercises that can begin immediately. The material content is easy to comprehend & not overwhelming. I would love to see this topic & book taught daily in all school curriculum so that people become emotionally intelligent which is a better indicator for success in life. It should be a mandatory read for high schoolers & college students which can allow for early intervention & awareness. Emotional health & stability would reduce the amount of violence/hate/crime/cruelty/failed relationships/broken homes that this world experiences daily. Emotionally intelligent individuals are more resilient & excel in all aspects of life! Kids model the behavior of the adults they are exposed to. It really is easy & cheaper to raise emotionally healthy kids than it is to fix broken adults.

Amazing Book that is so helpful on many different levels
I LOVE this book and have reached out to the author because I feel we need this in our schools, our churches, and our families. This book is very easy to implement with children and adults of all ages. I am honored to share it with my community and plan to share this book and all the content with local schools. I am the founder of Eco Angel Enterprises; a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing environmental education, animal advocacy, mindfulness, and non-bullying techniques to public schools as a part of curriculum. This book has inspired me to continue on my mission as I truly believe we will transform our planet by raising emotionally healthy children. I work with children and animals my website is [...] I feel we can implement these strategies with all of our relationships and create a better world for future generations. I am very grateful for Gerald and his wife they are a gift to our planet and a great hope for our world.

An inspiring excellent resource for parents and professionals
Dr. Gerald Newmarkโs excellent book inspires those who love children and families to be attentive to the 5 critical emotional needs that we all share: to feel respected, accepted, important, included, and secure. He points out that actively promoting emotional health is the โmissing agendaโ that is unfortunately relegated to a low priority in many homes and schools โ adults often claim they donโt have the time to pay attention and โworkโ on planning emotional health! Fortunately, Dr. Newmark provides some user-friendly practical guidance and activities for how adults and children can readily incorporate emotional health into their daily lives by addressing the 5 critical needs. This book is a wonderful resource for both parents and professionals who work with families!

I Wish I'd Had this Book When I Was a Parent
But now I am a grandparent and part-time caregiver and it is equally as relevant, perhaps moreso. Simple and intuitive, easy to follow and understand, it touches upon such basic lessons in humanity, growth and development. I was very pleased to see a section included on the grandparent's role and what to do when those roles clash with the parent. I fully intend to buy the print version of this and distribute it in an emotionally healthy way :-)Unfortunately, there are entirely too many children in our society who will not benefit from the advice contained in this wonderful book. And too many adults who won't take the time to read something that could change their lives, and improve the lives and chances of their children.Thank you for writing this book. It will be used over and over in my family.

Very clear, concise and sensible.
This book is great for everyone to read, whether you are raising kids or not. In my opinion, it helps raise our humanity and sensitivity to some basic needs we all have. Sometimes you feel badly in relationships and you think it's your fault, but if you look at the dynamics objectively with the 5 needs, you can see why things are not going well for you. You may already have a feeling about it, but I think examining your needs with this list, can tell you that you are not asking too much, but that you are looking for something normal. If you are raising kids, there is very good practical advice about procedures and "tools" you can use to improve communication with the 5 needs as a foundation.
