It’s stops water when needed
Wish I would known about these when I did my first house remodel. I put check valves on every water line in two spots. Makes remodel so much easier for very little cost. I haven’t found these for a better price anywhere else. Only had them installed for 3 months but so far they work as it should. One side note when ever installing new plumbing parts you should always disinfect them. Easy way to contaminate you’re water system. I worked at a place that had plumbing fixed the plumber didn’t disinfect the new parts. It was a commercial building and got inspected had a nasty bacteria in the system. Was traced back to those parts.

Make sure you check the drain
I ordered two of these and each one had the rubber gasket for the drain plugging up the drain hole. I could take the thumb screw the entire way off and it still held back the water pressure until I took pliers and pulled the gasket out
