Nice book for good price
The Raffles series is a great series and I highly recommend it. That being said this is a great way to get into it since it's a nice collection of the stories for a good price. The quality of the book reminds me of college level English textbooks and is rather plain but nice. If you find you like the series I'd also recommend finding a version with the illustrations, since they are very fetching.

Fantastic. I don't know why everyone isn't reading this
Fantastic. I don't know why everyone isn't reading this. Victorian cat burglar cricketer and his best mate and chronicler (and fellow cat burglar.)

NOT A PAPER BACK AS WE KNOW PAPER BACKS ARE
I did not read this book. It is not a "paper back" as we know it. The size is much larger, and because the paper it was printed on is very heavy, the book is also very heavy to handle or hold comfortably.

Great stuff, no Arsene around here.
I had never read Raffles before, although I dimly recall a TV version in 1970s.With the recent Netflix series "Lupin", based on the Arsene Lupin stories (who was based on Raffles), I decided to check out the Gentleman Thief. It isn't hard to guess the relationship between Raffles and Sherlock Holmes (the author was brother in law to Conan Doyle). The Raffles/Bunny relationship mirrors some of the more comic portrayals of Holmes/Watson.What is surprising is how cold and calculating Raffles can be.Only part way through but enjoying it.
