I should have bought this a long time ago! This smoke tester works great and puts out a nice thick smoke. Worked great to find a vacuum leak. Super easy setup and designed well. Buy it!

Great product at a fair price. Easy to use, the instructions say to let it warm up 1 minute but it started producing smoke almost instantly. I highly recommend it.

Today is July 14, 2024, and I purchased this smoke machine back in Nov of 2022. I am not a mechanic but like to save money and save other people money as well. I've only used this smoke machine on three cars but smoked two of those cars twice and the other car once. So technically I've used the smoke machine only five times. Now where I live the local mechanics charge $99 to smoke test an EVAP system each time. So, I've saved myself, family and my neighbors some money.As for the Autoline Pro Shop Series Smoke Machine itself, it has worked well, but not great for only five (5) times being used. It comes with a really good common-sense instruction manual and a replacement heating element or wick. However, my 1st wick only lasted three (3) uses before burning in half. I installed the replacement wick and per the instruction manual I pre-soaked the wick thoroughly with a turkey baster and even left the wick soaking in smoke fluid for several minutes before using. But it burnt in half before I could find the leak in my EVAP system.I did a little research online and found people suggesting to us wire out of a bread toaster to make a smoke machine heating element, apparently heating element wire is made from Nichrome wire for repeated heating cycles without burning up or apart. Since I needed to fix my car that day, off to the kitchen for the toaster. What I found was the toaster uses a type of flat wire while the Autoline Pro uses a round thin wire for its heating wire.I pulled the flat toaster wire out, ran it through part of the wick and crimped it to the factory connections then I gave it a try. Voila! Worked like a charm! Plenty of smoke and no problems. My bread toaster was a two-slice toaster which had four panels with the Nichrome flat wire running through it. I only used a small 3-inch piece of the toaster wire and still have plenty left over if needed again.Now the Autoline Pro in the Amazon ad states it has a 1-year warranty, but the manual states a 3-year warranty. The Amazon ad also states "lifetime guarantee" so I contacted Autoline, and they were really great to deal with. Autoline told me that the heating element or wick has a lifetime warranty and they sent me out a replacement wick free of charge. They also sent me a free bottle of smoke fluid.Knowing that in a pinch I can make my own heating element out of toaster wire and that Autoline stands behind their products, I highly recommend Autoline to anyone who wants to save some money and do repairs yourself. I'm even looking at Autolines smoke machine Plus that produces its own air. No more need for an external air compressor.

I should have bought one of these a long time ago. Decent quality build, super easy to use, very effective at easily detecting small leaks. In a very short time I easily pin pointed a very small evap leak and a two vacuum leaks which were all easily and cheaply repaired. CEL gone, ready to pass emissions testing. Easy peasy.I had previously failed to pinpoint the vacuum leaks by spraying carb cleaner or propane. I'd have never pinpointed the evap leak without the smoke - it wasn't where I'd have expected and was a tiny hole in a vapor line that I'd have never found without just throwing parts at it and replacing all the lines.This little smoke maker pinpointed all three leaks almost instantly, with little effort.Keeping an older vehicle emissions compliant just got a lot easier.

Works as advertised. I recommend buying the additional liquid smoke If you're going to be using it a lot. I would also buy the accessories like the plugs and adapters.

As the tie title indicates, I was initially skeptical of the 5 star ratings. However, it actually surpassed expectations based on it cost/utility factor. I generally strive for the best tool I can buy, but I couldn't stomach the price of a Sn@p 0n, and the price of HF's offering was absurdly high, considering. So, since I wasn't at all convinced that a smoke machine would help me find the culprit of a high idle check engine code, I took the plunge with this unit, based on the many 5 star ratings. It came the next day, as would be expected from Amazon. The packaging looked professional enough. I saw that it didn't come with any cones or plugs, so I spent extra on a set through a seperate purchase. The unit is very easy to operate - it's essentially the bottom of a hvlp spray gun. But the anodized finish and other fit and finish were really nice. I followed the instructions and set to work pouring smoke into my intake. Before I reveal whether I found anything, I will say that it pumps out a lot of smoke. Initial YouTube homework revealed that these cheaper units don't produce as much smoke as the more expensive sn@p 0ns do. Well, the thing promptly filled my two-bay garage. So, be warned - it outs out a LOT of smoke. So much so that I found the culprit within 15 seconds. As the crack was on the bottom side of the intake tube, I would never have found it without this machine. As such, the thing definitely earned its 5 stars.

I bought this to chase down a possible air intake/turbo leak. its extremely well built. heavy and sturdy. straight forward to use. I followed the directions, turned it on and it was producing smoke within about 2 minutes or less. It worked perfectly and i was able to find the leak. I plan to use it next to check my vacuums. I am beyond pleased with this unit.
