Use it for my firepit
I needed more dexterous grabbers to tend the fire in my firepit. A simple poker wasn't cutting it and I didn't want the clumsy and extra long iron tongs generally available for fireplaces. They can't do fine work. These 16" tongs allow me to pick up embers and small twigs to keep the fire burning, are compact, light weight, allow one-handed use and are long enough to keep me out of the heat.I wish they were 24" long. Sometimes I need to wear a glove if the fire is too hot, but for most times, they are perfect. Stainless, too, so I can leave them outside without issue. They have a sliding ring that locks them into the closed position. Very nice. For the price, I could not ask for more, unless they were even longer.

Good value for high capacity use
I bought these to use in a Wing restaurant. We rely on our tongs to move product from the fryers to saucing bowls 12-13 hours a day. They are used under intense conditions and subject to abuse. The two SS locking tongs I purchased meet my expectations for high quality and endurance. My crew has used them for two weeks, seven days a week and non stop. They have been dropped on tile floors, submerged in 350 degree shortening and have held up fine. As long as they last at least six months under these conditions, I will be very happy. The seller did a great job as well in getting these packaged and shipped compliant with Prime shipping arrangements. They were packaged with another product and both arrived in a well packed box.

Perfect Value for Camping and Grilling
We purchased this for camping and wood fire cooking (turning a prodding burgers with sticks--with short jabs --to avoid getting a heat rash or burn was NOT cutting it). For that purpose we love them. They are rugged, cheap, close tightly (important for packing a tidy camping box!), and it won't break our heart when they wear out in a couple years. This is not something I would get for the kitchen in my home. I have several other tongs with silicon claws, silicon grips, and fancy closures. But when your camping-- you just don't need all that and it would wear out quickly anyway.

Very thin gauge, spend a little more. Not worth even the low price.
Wish there was a review on these prior to buying. These were under five bucks and in this case you get what you pay for. Ultra thin gauge stainless steel. I could easily bend these with one hand and little effort. Not sure if I should send them back or throw them out. I have another set the same size that are 3 times as sturdy. These have very little utility. If the price is too good to be true it probably is. Unless you want a cheap set of flimsy tongs spend a few more bucks and get some well made ones. Luckily these were cheap in cost but this is my first and last time trying to save a few bucks on an unknown product.

Reaches everything
Just what we wanted.... the locking ring is a little looser than expected, but we adjusted it.

good for the price
The "locking mechanism," a rectangular ring that slides down over the tongs and holds them closed, sometimes slides when you don't want it to, but for the money (about half of what OXO cost) they're good. The length is right and they're sturdy.

poor quality
I read the other reviews about how flimsy these were, but didn't think it would be this bad. These are made from very thin metal, and bend way too easily. They also wobble when holding my grilling food.I tried to use these to pull some burger off the grill... first i wanted to wedge it under the meat to release it from the grates... but the end bent so quickly ans easily. After seeing the quality of these, I would gladly pay double for the stronger/standard ones. I suggest you do the same.

The tongs appear to be well made. I am a little annoyed by the locking ring that moves freely up and down.
