My favorite among HUNDREDS of cookbooks I own
I feel I have to honest up front and explain that I did not mean to give this book 5 stars. I meant to hack into Amazon and try to figure out how to give in 10 stars! This is the most awesome cookbook of it's kind. If I had any talent, this is exactly the kind of book I would write. There are so many people out there who claim to know about nutrition, but really miss the true mark. Let me tell you, this author really knows what she is talking about. If you read this book, and work with the recipes, you will know more about what is truly beneficial for us than 99% of the people out there. The recipes are so delicious. My 15 year old son bought it for me for Christmas after seeing it featured on Diggnation. This book has really changed our lives. The only negative is the index. The index is almost useless and I hope the author fixes it on any future edition. For example, my favorite dish in this large book is a cauliflower recipe. I can never find the recipe in the book (I now have a Post-it note marking the page). But, try to look up "cauliflower" in the index and nothing is there. It should list every recipe where cauliflower is an ingredient. Maybe some people don't care about the index, but if I have a certain ingredient on hand that I need to use up, I like to look at all the possible recipes I can use it in. Anyway, don't let the crappy index stop you from buying this AWESOME book.

Interesting Cook Book
This book was well written and researched; however, many of the recipes have ingredients not readily available at local supermarkets or even health food stores in the area. Yes, these items can be obtained through mail order, but that drives up the cost.I like the layout of the book and the categorized index, and it certainly has a wide array of recipes with an emphasis on disease prevention. Despite my criticisms, I intend to use the recipes in this book and find the information about healthy eating beneficial.

Great book...
Before i purchased this book i tried the Nutty Pumpkin Pie & popcorn on Glens site ([...]) ... My only regret is I should or picked this up when i first heard about it on Diggnation. I'm not a vegetarian/vegan or heath guru... but I am interested in changing my eating habits so this book works good for me.

Great recipes, terrible index
I don't know how to rate this book because the recipes are so good, but the ease of use as an actual book is tiresome to find anything. That said, I use this book all the time (even with the following caveat) and love mostly every one of the recipes. However, the index in this book is absolutely useless if you are searching for a recipe by ingredient. Some recipes are listed multiple times in the index and some ingredients that are in recipes are not listed in any logical way that would allow one to find them. I get a CSA box, so I come across things I usually wouldn't just pick up at the store. This makes me search for recipes by ingredient almost every time, which usually means that I get frustrated, put this book away and search vegweb to find vegan recipes with endives or rutabaga or whatever in them. I have found that if I'm looking to make a salad dressing or help aid a cold or runny nose, then I can find the recipe almost immediately. So when considering this book, think of how you use recipes; by ingredient or by ailment because it is organized by the latter.Side note and the only "bad" recipe in the book: the millet miso onion recipe (Not sure of the exact name as I refuse to look at the page because I'm pretty sure I threw up on it), is absolutely terrible. Maybe I'm allergic to millet or something, but now I'll never know since I won't touch the stuff. But the popcorn recipe is soo good that it makes up for whatever bad recipes you might not like in this book.
