Machu Piccchu - even more awesome in person.
helped me to prepare for a visit to Machu Picchu and understand some of what I would see in person. This opened up my mind to options on how to interpret what is there and how it got there. One point that the book makes about the Incas building Machu Picchu on top of a previous site seems to have been disproven and substituted with the theory that different qualities of masonry are more aligned with the importance of the room and how visible an particular section of wall would have been when finished. This makes more sense when you are there. As the book points out, you don't have to follow the arrows around the site, and be aware that the names which Bingham gave to various structures were only guesses and not always substantiated by evidence. This kept my mind open during the tour.Photos in the book are B&W but that is ok because you really need to see the site in person to appreciate it anyway.

Amazing ancient structures
Bought the book to support Brian's work. He tells things in a fun and informative way. Simply ingenious. I love his books. The positive is that they are cheap and even students and newcomers can buy these. Could have been color pictures but then the prices had gone up considerably. And skulls do not necessarily have to be in color either. I like the content and black and white, I'm a little old fashioned like that. kudos to the author. - Nephilim research

Fairly light in terms of substance and out of date academically...
The book is a decent high level intro and guide to MP, the ruins and the history around the site and the incas... But the theories put forward aboout the prevous civilizations and the different looks to the stone work don't really hold up when you dig a bit deeper - they uran and hanan pacha theores are really interesting, I like them... But they are based on shoddy research and the works of Graham Hancock, whom I also love... I toured with a very good guide (hard to find there) that had first hand knowledge of where the 20th century retoration and renovation work was done which fills in many gaps around the finest stone work, which the book seems to say is evidence that others built this stuff and that it was beyond the incas ken... The tours itself is pretty light and doesn't add much value beyond what you'll get from a good guide... The Inca had tools better than bronze and you can see then in the museum down below... Several sites in Peru were left haf built with the mens of moving the stones and carving thm left fairly clearly out in the open... The truth is we don't know enough about the amazing cultures in Peru... I was dissapointed in this book once I did a bit of my own reading...

Foerster Rocks
I have now completed purchase of all of Foerster's books. Like the others, this offers insights from a truly independent scientist on two major topics: a new human (sub)species and phenomenal large rock (megalith) buildings with high precision cuts and fitting. He is beginning to rewrite ancient history not only with the true story of American migration, but also raising questions about origins of the first humans. Come on Academic Scientists, do you really believe people first traveled over the Bering Ice, went to Peru and became redheads and blondes? Even Thor Heyerdahl figured this out more than half a century ago. Dear Reader, couple Foerster's work with Sitchin's (he is heavily criticized) and with ancient religious texts and with Joseph Farrel's to develop your own independent picture of our roots. Then compare to the twisted machinations of the Academics. Then laugh!

A tour guide who knows history as it really was, great book!
Foersters book is very enlightening. He's been to Machu Picchu at least 20 times, with an open, highly educated mind, and so who better to guide you through the layers inside of layers upon layers of this ancient mysterious city? He can point out the oldest stone - the Napauq, the next oldest stone - the Sapa, and the more recent Incan stone. It is very clear the way he explains everything that more than one culture utilized this city, and he also uses beautiful germane pictures as only he can take them. If I were planning on taking a tour of an ancient site I can't think of a tour guide more attuned to reality when it comes to mankind's true history. If you want the truth, not just what's in the mainline 'history' books, he's your guide.

Amazing Place. Fantastic Book. Great price.
I bought this and read it on the plane ride to Peru. I loved it. To say that Mr. Foerster is quite knowledgeable on this subject is a serious understatement. He really knows his stuff and will tell you all the stuff the guides won't. All Peruvian guides go to the same school and they all spout the same non-sense they have been told to say. Do yourself a favor and read this and all of Mr. Foerster's books either before you go or while you are on your way to Peru. You will love the trip. Definitely amazing place. The information in this book is essential.I had the absolute pleasure of meeting him on my way to the Ballestas Islands. Look him up. Definitely worth your time.

Much more to be said . But good enough to begin with.
This book should be read before your trip to Machu Pic'chu. Contains additional information about the place itself that regular guides will not tell you. It's nota detailed guide how to get there no bus or train schedules or where to stay, but what pay attention to.Things are not all inside the book : there's not mention to the andean cross placeduring inside Machu Pic'chu. Maybe 'cause the author is a guide to PerĂº. So not all is told. And not all is detailed told.

I wonder if I got the whole thing?
The details for this book claim that this is 93 pages long. When I downloaded to my Kindle it showed as being only 35 pages long!! The book (or should I call this a pamphlet?) is not bad - has great pictures and good information. Except that I also bought Inca Footprints: Walking Tours of Cusco and the Sacred Valley of Peru and the information about Machu Picchu found in that book is practically the same information that is in this one. So I bought 2 books where I really could have bought only 1. I know they are only $4.99, but had I known that the same information was found in both books I could have purchased another book instead.

Very interesting book and guide
Straight to the point without the touristic bull that gets spoon feed to the gullible. Yet I believe there is a simple answer to the condor stone and so called sacrifice stone if you look an anther race on the other side of the globe

very basic
This book is okay for a quick before visiting MP and will provide some interesting info, however some of it is less than scientific / fact based (as the author discloses sincerely up front), but based on local myth and Peruvian word of mouth.
